Danny Granger to win MIP award

Post#1 » by brook_11 » Tue May 12, 2009 3:09 am

There“s a report on realgm stating that Pacers Danny Granger won the Most Improved Player award. Its sad...i was really rooting for Devin Harris, but i also think Danny deserves it as much as Devin. Both had terrific seasons(the best in their careers)!!! Well, congratulations for both of them i guess....
Hope Devin will come even better next season!!

I hope Harris uses this as motivation, just as he used that bum Stewie whatever his name was in the offseason.

Yeah, as a Nets fan I was definitely pulling for Devin to win it, but I have no problem with Granger winning it, he deserved it just as much.

My dream from Devin not winning this is that he puts a massive chip on his shoulder to get this next year. Or just keep improving. All season, 95% of sports writers basically wrote Devin's name on this award and only in the last week have I heard rumblings of Danny winning it. Don't get me wrong, I love Danny Granger, but Devin was overlooked in Dallas and set out this season to make himself known so lets hope missing out on this award will motivate him to improve even more next season.

You gotta read some of Dennis Glass's rants about how this award is a crock of garbage and just a PR stunt. If you look at it, Danny may actually be the first guy who actually "deserved" this award. Dennis Glass's argument is that this award is basically a slap in the face and that the players were always good, it's just that they finally get playing time or get traded or something so they finally show the world what they can do. When you read the press releases from the NBA about this award it basically makes them sound like they were garbage then out of nowhere became awesome players. Danny doesn't fit this mode though. He improved a lot. If we drafted him over Wright, we'd be loving on him right now.

I agree prelude. Of all the good Thorn has bought to this franchise and there has been heaps, this surely ranks as his biggest bust. (can anyone else think of an another?) I still look back and think what could of been. Not gonna hang him for it. But it is really just a case of take the best player available. Does Armstrong cancel out cos we got RJ and twin?

Cheers

Granger should be a Net...period...absolutley amazing how they passed on him due to a short term injury...this kid is a big a time talent and obvioulsy has a big heart...

as far as the voting...I still think Devin should of won this, though Indiana did end up with 2 more wins...Granger missed to more games than Devin...their stat improvements were pretty similar...it definitely sux, Devin deserved this as much as Granger probably more in my book...others will look at this as a toss up more or less...the question is who won more games for their respective team?

I am ok wth Granger winning this.

I am upset we didnt draft him along with a lot of miss cues by Thorn, but Thorn is still the man.

As far as the MIP, I think this is a BS award anyway. Simmons got it and he still stinks. If someone gets injured one year and misses the whole season. Then the next he has a great season, why would he be considered a MIP candidate. It is stupid.

There's no chance that the Pacers trade Granger.

Yeah as of today, Granger is Indy's franchise player. He seems pretty happy there too. Only way they let him go is if they get a Godfather offer. Our only shot of him being a Net passed on draft night a few years back. I wasn't happy then (even though I thought Wright would be better than he is) and I'm still not happy about it now. Last year we hit it out of the park draft night, but I think Thorn's draft history is a big blemmish during his time with the Nets. I still think he's one of the better team presidents in the league, but tets hope we do our homework this year again.
