NJN/PHX Trade

Post#1 » by aussienet » Sat May 30, 2009 2:06 am

It works on the trade checker guy's. I'm prepared to be flamed either way over this so here goes. What do you guy's think about
VC
Yi
Simmons
11th pick

to PHX

AMARE
J-Rich

I haven't got time for any explanations right now but would love to hear your thoughts (good and Bad) Is it too homerish? Is it too much to give up?

Discuss.

Cheers

I think the Nets were def interested in Amare at deadline but there are some serious concenrs including (1) his knee - wor dis that he was told he would need a second microfracture surgery a few years fetr the first operation (2) whether he would sign an extension with us and (3) his lack of defense (but I dont buy too much into that) - D'Antoni didnt preach defense and i think he would help as a team defender

Amare would be a great add to this team. But I don't know about J-Rich. I wouldn't do this trade. Because 2010 is coming.

I think Phoenix can get more than that for Amare. For all his shortcomings, he's still a legit top big man in the game, something which is hard to find nowadays.

It's close value wise.

**** Amar'me though.

And amk482, there is nothing to buy into, Amar'me's defense just sucks.

Thank's guy's. Sorry I been away for a couple of day's. I agree with speedy that they could get more but with Amare coming out and saying he would like to play in NY I think we can low ball a little, I mean what do NY have to offer talent wise? Salary dumping now that is a whole other issue. I also agree with VC4P that it is pretty close.

I have always liked these two players. From the moment they came into the league. Unfortunately I haven't seen much of them play. Hey, who has in the merry old land of oz. I will admit most of what i've seen has been high-lights on Sportscentre and the occassional Nba game that doesn't involve Lakers or Celtics or Cav's.

Unless we trade VC for a salary dump then this is the only way i see us getting a good return for him ( not this trade as such but one along these lines) I don't think any GM would give us a young stud for VC (unless Thorn can work his magic)

Cheers

If you're getting Amare, there's no reason to trade Vince. I think this deal works better for both sides if the Vince/JRich swap. Vince is the superior player and the Suns saves close to $10 million by not doing the swap.

Devil, are you saying to drop the VC/J-Rich part of the deal? If so I can come up with Yi, Simmons, Najero and 11th pick.. Is that too little or too much? I think maybe just right. But then again i am a bit of a homer sometimes.

Thoughts?

I'll admit I'm not sure about my thoughts on the Amare part. One issue I see with this trade is that the Yi, Simmons, Najera and 11 for Amare actually increases PHX's salary, hard to see the Suns liking anything to do with Najera.

If NJ/PHX are both interest in the Amare part, I think not swapping Vince/JRich is beneficial for both sides.

I'll agree that najera is a stretch. but it made the salaries work and i would agree on sending someone else however in relation phx adding salary there payroll was 75.6mill last year and scheduled to be at 62.2 mill (agreed they have some signing issues) with this trade it would push there cap to 64.2 mill. In the big money world of the NBA do you think that 2 mill extra this year compared to the 15 odd mill they save next year by trading Amare is a major snag?. Sure they will have two rookies to pay and they can not sign Yi (it is a team option after next year) if he is a bust.
Is the 2 mill extra this year the main basis of your point? Not havin a go at you mate just tryin to see where your coming from.

cheers!
