Lineups, Minutes, and Roles

Post#1 » by amk482 » Thu Jun 25, 2009 3:06 pm

If we take Hansborough, where does he play? Since the team is dedicated to giving Yi another chance, how do the minutes get split between Ryan, Yi and Tyler? If we take Henderson, how does that impact CDR's minutes that he earned last year? And does that mean VC plays exclusively at the 3? Same issue with Terrance Williams.....

Henderson is only a 2 in the NBA. CDR is tall enough to play the 3 so it won't be an issue there.

I was making the same argument against drafting Tyler the past 2 weeks with my friends. The ONLY way I can see us taking him is if we move AT LEAST Sean. Ryan, is a hard worker but would still be used as a situational rotation guy because of his shooting ability. Yi will still get time. Boone can play some 5. You gotta factor in when we go small with Najera too. I'd honestly be packaging Najera with Sean AND Josh to try to land Darko. That would give us the max cap we need, clear up room since Darko would back up Brook and give Memphis 2 young guys who are talented, but not in our long term plans anymore while getting rid of Najera's contract. Then Ryan/Yi/Tyler would be our rotation at the 4 which I'm fine with for the time being.

Of course, there are other things I'd rather do, but if I couldn't, the above is the route I'd take.

If we draft Sucko T, I am covering Thorn and Kiki's roofs in berries all summer so that every bird within a 5 mile radius relentlessly bombards their home in feces until the season starts.

I agree with you on the PF situation.

As for the SG/SF, If we get Twill he would be more of a defender while he improves his Shooting.
I just posted something on the Draft thread.

Starters
Harris, CDR/Twill, VC, Anderson/Swat, Lopez
Bench
Dooling, CDR/TWIll, Hayes, Simmons, Najera, Anderson/Swat, Boone

Depending who wins the starting SG/SF job, will the determine the rotation. Simmons will be stuck to Spot minutes at SF/PF.

As for Henderson, unless he is as good as a defender as Twill is, I dont want him.

Henderson is a very solid defender - You forgot about Yi - we all know he is going to get minutes. I think its funny that they benched him last year becasue they wanted to win at the end of the season and now he is part of the future???? Do they think that Nets fans are that dumb???

Yeah I forgot to put him.

I want him coming off the bench until he proves to me he should start. I would play him at C too. Like Mike Fratello said. IMO I think he could do the same things Lopez did. I am not saying he is better, but similar possessions.

Lineups, Minutes, and Roles

What do you think the team looks like next year?

List of players:
Harris
Dooling

CDR
Hayes
Williams
Lee
Simmons
Hassell

Yi
Williams
Najera

Lopez
Boone

This biggest mystery to me is the SG/SF rotation. Simmons will make a stink if he doesn't start or get big minutes. Hayes is a good shooter, defender and veteran influence. Dooling can and should get minutes at SG (he won't get enough at PG). CDR showed scoring ability last year. Lee played well as a starter or bench player in Orlando. Williams was taken 11th.

Even playing Simmons a bit at PF, I just don't know how they can work out those minute without another trade of some sort.

PG - Harris/Dooling/Alston/Twill
SG - Lee/CDR/Dooling/Twill
SF - Twill/Hayes/Hassel/Simons
PF - Yi/Najera/Battie/Swat
C- Lopez/Boone/Battie

First of all, we have too many players so we arent done making moves. Im pretty confident in the starting 5 I listed, but bench roles not so much. I dont think Hassel or Simons should or will play at all.
