I'm happy about the trade for both teams.I became an NJ fan because of VC but I have really grown to love the Nets and I will be sticking around(though I don't post that often on realgm anymore).

The Net's future is very very bright, though there are not many nets fans(hehe),you guys are great fans.

I'm gonna miss VC. Looks like I'll be rooting for Orlando to make it out of the east again.

VC thanks for the memories. Class act since he got to Jersey. He never complained and just went out and played his game. You will be greatly greatly missed. Good luck in Orlando and I hope you get your ring that you deserve.

I didn't like this trade at all but Vince was definitely the man and I'm sure we will all miss having him in a nets uniform

The reality is whether you liked him or not...he was an absolute model citizen and terrific player for this team that cost us nothing.

We never got the missing piece...the quality big man to make a serious run after we said goodbye to Kmart and then reinvented the core with the VC trade later that year. But...all the supposed knocks on VC?

He was a regular 20+ 5-5 player...he played through injury and if you look at his games played by year he has to be among the best in the NBA while he was with us. He was great with fans, coaches, teammates and members of the organization....not one bad thing written in all these years. Even after the team decided it was time to rebuild and he found himself surrounded by youth and knew he wasnt going to be on a team competing in the playoffs last season...he never complained...never did anything to question his character.

To me its obvious that he proved all those jackasses wrong. All those people who believe the joke of an edit that John Thompson interview was..those angry Raps fans who were throwing him under the bus. He proved it was all nonsense. How often does that happen in sports? Usually a bad egg is a bad egg.

Whether you loved his style of play or if you wished he were more agressive going to the hoop...if you hated the leg kicking fadeaway, or the grimace and facial rub after every bit of contact...bottom line...he was an absolutely terrific acquisition for this franchise and was one of the absolute best players we have ever had. In fact...for most of the guys on this board who are in their teens or early 20's...other than Kidd...you NEVER saw a better Net play in your time as a fan.

So? Give the man his due. He should have nothing but support and love from Nets fans today. Good luck VC. You did a great job. Sorry we couldnt get the missing pieces in your time here but hopefully you get a chance to compete for a ring with the Magic.

Yeah man I remember watching that game live thinking we were totally screwed being down 18.... then VC just absolutely took over and almost singlehandedly won the game. Great game and great youtube clip!

I wrote an open letter to Vince last night. You can find it here:

I am trying to find a way to get Vince's eyes to see this, so if you want to add something, do so in the comments of the blog...

LMAO!!...........Thanks Ranmen I need that. I'm going to plagerize that one at work on Monday.

I can't root for RJ. I root against Kidd for the way he left us. But for some reason I can root for Vince with Orlando. Usually for me, once your not a Net your the enemy.

I just got chills so strong it looked like the Coors Light bullet train commercial.

I remember when VC hit the 3 to tie it. I jumped out of my seat and screamed YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!! so loud that my friend literally dropped the glass of soda he was holding in fright, no lie

I really hope that if we are a true contender by 2011 and Orlando cuts him, we swoop in and sign him to like a 21 mill 3 year deal, with the 3rd nonguaranteed and use him as a 28-30mpg 6xth man like Manu Ginobili. He's in good enough physical shape to still be worth it...

He was the best player i saw as a Net after Kidd.
He was a great player and a great member of our team.

I wish the best luck to him in Orlando. Hoppefully he can get a ring.

Will his shirt be retired? I think it should.

Good luck VC. I will miss you.

All joking aside this is a good question.

I mean depending on how many seasons he plays in Orlando and if they win a title, he could wind up having his jersey hanging from the rafters in three seperate arenas.

Has that ever happened in NBA history?

I haven't posted on here in a while but I still keep up with the threads and this is the most depressing one in a while. We lost our last face of the franchise from the past few years and we're basically going in with an unrecognizable team compared to the last few years.. it's just pretty sad. Hopefully this will eventually turn out to be a new east dominating roster like we had at times from 02-06.

Down with NJN since Kenny and Derrick

Joking aside I have hi hopes for Yi Jianlian this season.

Compare what he did his first two years:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4284

With what Andrea Bargnani did:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4129

---

Now, now, before we bring up any Bargnani jokes understand that Andrea DID improve dramatically in his third year what still makes him the butt of many jokes is his pathetic rebounding skills but as we can see (even without minute and pace adjusting) Yi is a much better rebounder than Bargnani.

Anyway what I'm getting at is that there are quite a few similarities between their games and the situations that accompanied them when they came to the NBA.

This third year is make or break for Yi and I believe he'll make it.

Funny, this is the exact comparison I make on the Trade Board all the time when morons say he isn't worth a 2nd rounder and would be used as an expiring, let alone the commerce he creates.

You know I'm not a Yi fan at all and I wish we would trade him no matter how good he ever happens to get, dude has no heart, but this comparison is valid and their situations are similar.

The funniest part is when the Craptors fans start piping on about him beiing a scrub and then ignoring how bad Bargs had been all while claining he is a lock to become a stud next year and acting like he has proven something already.

I'll be honest, I kind of hope Yi fails miserably though. I don't want this piece of jink on my team, he brings way too much negative attention to the team and where he goes so do his traveling circus of handlers. Dude is like Marbury without the schitzophrenia and self centered attitude, but his handlers and agent(Fegan, you cantakerious little prick) provide that for him.
