Keyon Dooling

Post#1 » by NJ To BK » Mon Jun 29, 2009 3:45 am

Having the Nets not come out with the right energy to win games, for lack of crowd if you will, I found it to be fun to watch Keyon get at it with the fans last year. He always plays high energy basketball which I enjoy, he reminds me of a young Darrell Armstrong. My concern with the acquisition of Rafer Alston do you think he will disappear in the rotation? I can cleary see Alston becoming frustrated when the Nets start Losing. I know the Nets had to play VInce at the point last year for lack of depth, But wont that just piss off dooling, making him a 3rd string point guard?
Thoughts?

I don't think Dooling will fall out of the rotation, but I do see your concerns with how the minutes will be split between Dooling and Rafer.

If you recall however Dooling played shooting guard the last couple of games of the season and played pretty well while doing so...

I think Dooling will get his minutes, my real concern however is how playing Dooling at shooting guard will cut into the playing time of other young players such as:

Terrence Williams and Chris Douglas-Roberts

Also, welcome to RealGM.

I'm not sure that Skip is even any better then Dooling.
My concern is actually with Skip getting buried and becoming a cancer, especially during a contract year.

Dooling is going to get PT. He is a FRANK guy. I like his game just as much as skips. Skip has to prove he can be better then dooling.

I would say no to another body. I think we need to keep Rafer until he starts affecting chemistry. There are not many teams that have a TE big enough to match contracts and I don't think many teams under the cap (who are they this offseason?) would be interested unless they felt they NEEDED another PG and didn't have any other option.

As for a body? Again i say no. Currently we have, according to position, guys who can play each position:

PG: Harris, Dooling, Alston

SG: Lee, Hayes, Hassell, Dooling, TWill, CDR

SF: Hayes, Simmons, TWill, CDR, Najera

PF: Yi, Boone, Swat, Najera

C: Lopez, Battie, Boone, Swat

Yes our front court looks rather limited and I think we'll add someone on the cheap, but since we have now entered "Full Rebuild Mode," I'd rather just let this rotation of young guys get playing time and try to develop instead of adding someone else to the mix.

I wouldn't call our rotation "Good" or anything, but for a mediocre team, I'd say it's "fairly balanced."

The teams that could use Reefer:

Dallas Mavericks
Atlanta Hawks
Miami Heat
Boston Celtics
Los Angeles Lakers
Philadelphia 76'ers

In virtually all trade scenarios the Nets get a pile of crap in return =D!

That being said... Let's trade Rafer for Scalabrine and Gabe Pruitt!

It's only been a select few, but Laker fans seemed to endorse the idea of Rafer for Adam Morrison's expiring and MEM's 2010 2nd rounder.

If I could get a top 40 pick for Rafer, I'd deal him now to avoid the possible headaches.

I think Skip will actually have a good season.. never underestimate the power of a contract season. Especially on a team with slim to none playoff hopes.

Down with NJN since Kenny and Derrick

We should definitely do that. Expiring for Expiring + 2nd rounder, and you can never have too many 2nd rounders either.

^ That would be a great trade for the Nets. Having that extra 2nd would give them even more maneuverability come the 2010 draft.
