Detroit Trade

Maxiell, Afflalo, and our 2010 2nd round pick

for

Najera, Boone, and SWAT

Maxiell shores up your backup PF spot and Afflalo provides depth behind Lee...you also gain instant cap relief and a future pick to boot.

The value isn't bad, but Maxiell's contract really hurts the Nets' 2010 cap plans. I like Afflalo though he'd be kind of buried on this team. If Maxiell could be redirected elsewhere for expirings (Dallas? Portland?) I'd probably bite on this deal.

Afterwords you follow it up with a deal with Minnesota, maybe something like Simmons for Etan Thomas and filler. They have a glut of bigs, while we have too many wings.

Another team you could swing Maxiell to might be Milwaukee. Their GM, Hammond came from the Pistons organization and they also have a ton of bigs with expirings....

You could turn Maxiell into some kind of combination of Kurt Thomas, Francisco Elson, and/or Malik Allen....

We could always trade you Sharpe, Afflalo, and a future 2nd rounder for Boone and SWAT.

Tell me about Sharpe. His strengths and weaknesses and what type of game he plays.

There's just no point in trading Boone or Williams if Najera isn't attached and if it isn't expirings coming back. Boone can be renounced and Williams can be cut, or even traded for something like a pick on draft night, no reason we will take back a dime of salary for either of these guys unless the deal is just too sweet to pass up and this is not it.
Afflalo would be absolutley buried on our bench.
I have no idea about Sharpe though.

Looks like we'd have to call Denver if we want those 2.
