So now when we renounce his rights next offseason at least we know he'll be able to feed his family.

Based on things said by management this offseason, I think they'd renounce Sean Williams before they do Josh.

Question, we basically need to move Najera to have potentially, depending on the cap, enough cap space to sign 2 max players outright. If we kept Najera and renounced Sean or Josh, would that be enough hypothetically? Obviously I'd rather move Najera, I was just curious since the idea of renouncing a rookie contract came up in this thread.

But yeah, Josh I honestly think at this point is more important to this team than Swat which is why Swat would leave town before Josh did in my opinion. We know what we're gonna get with Josh. He doesn't have an offensive game (well it's better than Twin) but he's an average man defender and actually likes cleaning up the boards. Swat thinks he's better offensively than he really is and ALWAYS looks for the block instead of just playing good solid all-around defense.

For the hypothetical 2 max FA thing, we would have to renounce Boone, trade Dooling and Najera, decline Swat's option and have the cap at about what it is this season, if not higher. Might even have to do all those things and decline the option on Yi!
2 max guys is almost certainly a pipe dream, unless Lebron and Bosh were on some secret handshake, shady backroom tip with us and we were 110% positive they would both sign.
Now one max and one close is more likely.

Interesting side note, one of the more reputable posters on the trade board(I forgot who) said he read in an SI article a couple months ago where Lebron said Devin Harris is literally one of his best friends and his best NBA friend. Interesting indeed.

The "Shoe Guru" said something similar. The Shoe Guru is a guy (whose name I can't remember at all right now...damn work) basically sets up a ton of NBA player shoe deals and is a mentor of Lebrons, after the Kidd trade to Dallas, he was talking to Mark Cuban and was like "Mark congrats...you just traded Lebron's favorite point guard in the NBA." About a month after the Kidd deal that article came out. I'll try to find it, but it's not a rumor that Lebron and Devin are good friends. I'm actually surprised the media hasn't blown it out of proportion yet.

Lebron loves throwing gas on the fire too. At his charity event over the weekend he said his loyalty is only to Akron, Ohio and he looks forward to where he may land next summer. I'm sorry if I were the Cavs I'd want to murder him when he says that. Dwayne Wade handles the media 30000 times better. Lebron loves the attention though, Dwayne doesn't so whatever.

Prelude, I read that too.

I was heavy on the Lebron to NJ/NY, until all the issues of the new arena. I cant picture Lebron coming here to play in the Izod. I will be really shocked that he comes here.

But let me fantasize a little:

Harris
Lee
Lebron
Bosh
Lopez

Wouldnt that be lovely!!!!

Yeah I still hold out hope, but I'm in the same boat. Every new issue or kink in the chain that pops up about brooklyn basically makes me chip away at that dream. Granted, it was a slight dream anyway. About a year ago I felt we had a 15% shot at landing him, now it's about down to 5. Honestly though, if we nab the #1 pick in the draft (or even a top 3 if there are a few can't miss kids), I could see that percentage rise again if we clear up Brooklyn within the next 6 months. Our roster has 3000 times more potential than the Cav's roster when Lebron was a rookie so that argument "Lebron going to the same situation he started in as a rookie" is completely false in my book.

Regardless, it's still a long shot. There are a lot of other FA's available next summer, but in my opinion, a lot aren't worth the money they'll get. I need to see how we play/develop this year before I make a sound judgement on the direction I want this team to follow.
