John Wall or Favors?

Post#1 » by brook_11 » Tue Nov 17, 2009 5:18 pm

Guys, i know it may be a little bit too early to talk about it, but i cant atop thinking about as of right now. Im really undecided about who to pick assuming we get the top pick in the draft. John Wall, is he next Chris Paul? he´s ranked as the best player in the draft by many people. But thinking about Favors, hes been compared to both Josh Smith and Amare Stoudemire. Imagine a frontcourt of him and Lopez...
So, what do you think?

I want Favors. He's exactly what we need next to Brook. If we want Chris Paul, I have no doubt in my mind that Thorn could make that his swan song trade.

I know a ton of people are high on Wall, but I am taking Favors right now.

Pacers fan here,

To be honest tanking the season wouldn't be that bad. Imagine Devin Harris with Favors. Kinda hard for Lebron to pass that up.

I just want him out of our division.

Trust me, the Nets aren't tanking...they're just bad.

As for the convo, well, depends. What I saw from Wall last night I liked.

By the time the draft rolls around, any of the elite PFs (Monteijunas, Favors, Davis) could overtake Wall for the #1 spot. But as of right now, John is in another category. If I had to go on what I know now, I'd take Wall and figure out my PG situation later. But by the end of the year, Derrick could look like Dwight Howard v. 2.0., so who knows yet?

From videos I've seen, Derrick looks to be the closest thing to Kenyon Martin I've seen since, well, Kenyon Martin. Lots of power, lots of intensity and that carries his offensive game even though it's not totally polished (but he's a Freshman so that's understandable). I love the kid, but I'm concerned because he make clog the middle for Brook.

I don't know. John Wall does look legit.

I seriously will slap a child though if we waste a pick on Ed Davis. Don't care what anyone tells me, that kid is not good.

Wall looks much longer then expected they list him at 6'3" but his arms are so long (like Rondo) which makes him look bigger. I think he could be similar to Rondo in his game but more explosive.

Favors haven't seen him yet but I hear that he's expanding his jump shot range out to 15' which is good enough to not clog the lane for Lopez

I can't complain I'd take either one of these guys.

Turner is the dark horse for me has such a smooth jumper and good size at 6'7" he could play either the 2 or 3 along with CDR or LBJ.

The obvious need is PF so right now I'd lean toward Favors but who knows alot can change. I haven't been this excitied about college ball ever.

I have a man crush on Evan Turner and Patrick Patterson. I would love to have either on our team, but we'd need to make some moves to free up space for Turner since he plays the same position as CDR and Twill (p.s. OSU is having Turner play the point an awful lot this season). If we actually added both these guys in the draft and just "hoped to develop and sign our guys to extensions" I would be fine with it. Of course, 99.9% of Net fans (see: The other 12 on the planet (p.s. I don't consider people in China to be Nets fans...they are Yi fans)) would burn Nets headquarters to the ground and we'd continue to suck for a few years but I think it'd be dividends in the end (see: Portland).

Turner is just so friggin' nasty.
It would be hard to pass him up, if say we land the 3rd or 4th pick and Wall and Favors are gone.
I know we have depth at the wings, but you don't pass up the next Grant Hill/Brandon Roy because you have the current Radja Bell/Marquis Daniels...

Favors is the pick. He'll be the rave of the draftniks come March.
