Tell that to my little ten year old cousin who was accosted by 30 year old Yankee fans for wearing a Seattle Mariner jersey when the Mariners were losing by five runs in the eigth inning. Or how about a guy who was sitting ten rows in front of me one game who got a beer thrown at him for cheering for a player on the other team. Or how about Yankee fans calling into the Michael Kay show and complaining that Brian Cashman isn't doing his job and should have traded for Roy Halladay three days after the World Series parade. I don't give a damn how many championships a team has, there is absolutely no reason not to have class.
Regardless, that is neither here nor there and I apologize for switching the conversation from the Nets moving to Brooklyn.
No worries about going offtopic...
I was talking more about the so called arrogance of Yankee fans...
As far as abusive fans and the idiotic statements and actions of Yankee fans...you just have to understand that is a given...With all due respect Jersey Generals, take your cousin to Boston and you'll find the samething...take him to a Raiders game in Oakland and you'll find the samething there...
Point is, there are certain sport cities where it is inevitable that you will find these type of fans...throw on top of that, you are in NYC, the Bronx and Yankee fans as a whole (drinking and superiority complex) and you get what you just explained above...
I'm sorry, but I might of heckled your 10 year old cousin, but in a polite way of busting...something like "you're pretty brave wearing that shirt in here" with a nice smile on my face...With that said, I would advise any fan of the opposition, who chose to wear their team's shirt/jersey in Yankee stadium to think twice...its all about avoidance, not whats fair or civil...(Boston is worse)
Bottom line... it is what it is...and any average fan who would hope for common decency or repsect at certain sport venues while rooting for the opposition, is hoping for too much...
