I think people are overstating the "addition" of 2010/11 salary. When you factor in the price of replacing Najera's roster spot with a player making the minimum, this deal costs them about $200K.
It also wouldn't shock me if Humphries is dumped in a cap move at some point. It should be a decent amount easier now since Humphries is a 25-year-old who can be a bench player with $3.2 million left on his deal. Najera on the other hand is 33, can't play anymore and have $4.75 million (assuming he's cut before 7/1) left on the contract.

Would you guys then trade Sean Williams for Patrick O'Bryant?
Saves you guys about $800K instead of just waving Williams.

^The team has to waive Williams for a roster spot, I think.

The moves make sense in the long run. But i'm starting to think the Nets have a realistic shot at beating the 76ers 73 loss record.

I hope that Shawne Williams is cut soon that way whenever the name of a marginal talent comes up some poster will create a thread saying the Nets should sign said player.
(I've got dibs on the sign Mo Ager thread)

well there you have it...
Shawne Williams, who was waived by the NBA's New Jersey Nets today, was indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury on Tuesday on eight drug charges.
According to the Shelby County District Attorney's office, Williams was indicted on four counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell, and four counts of conspiracy to manufacture/deliver/sell a controlled substance, a codeine-based syrup. Both are considered Class E felonies and carry standard sentences of 1-2 years, if convicted.
Williams turned himself in to authorities and was booked today into the Shelby County Jail.
