^^^^ Basically you want a coach who knows how to run the triangle offense. Lets go find as many Phil Jackson coached players that we can and have then all just coach the team. Scottie Pippen can be our head coach with Luke Longley, Paxson, Bill Cartwright and Ron Harper be our assistants.

Ugh, that team could probably beat ours in a 7 game series right now...

Re: Wall
If we get the 3rd or 4th pick, I'd just try to go all in this off-season.
-I'd call up New Orleans and offer up Devin Harris and as many of our draft picks (2010 & beyond) as it takes to get Chris Paul.
-Then I go hard at trying to get D-Wade
-I'd offer Ben Wallace a contract to play power forward. We can't have Yi starting, we need a physical defensive minded veteran big man to help Brook down low and be an enforcer. Yi is better served spacing the floor off the bench.
-I'd have to let go of Dooling in order to save some money to make moves
-T-Will gets bumped up to starting small forward in the Bruce Bowen/Tayshaun Prince role. He doesn't need to score, just play defense, swing the ball, rebound and let CP3, Wade and Lopez do the scoring
-I'd use my remaining second round draft pick this year to get a backup point guard. CP3 plays a lot of minutes, so we just need someone who is competent for 8-10 minutes a night. I like Jimmer Fredette because he is a shooter and we need more guys to stretch defenses

Draft Question: If We Don't Get Wall...
I know most every Nets fan is counting down to the John Wall Sweepstakes, aka the NBA Draft Lottery (May 18th - only 97 more days!). Of course, what if we don't get the PG wunderkind? There are still a number of elite prospects in the upper half of the lottery, and assuming we end up with the worst record in the NBA (perhaps in history), we can be assured of nothing worse than the 4th pick.
It seems that there are a fair amount of Evan Turner supporters on these boards, as a fall-back option. He'd be the best value pick and the safest RoI in the entire lottery, as he has all the makings of a Brandon Roy / Joe Johnson type game-changer. However, I have a funny feeling that instead of the surefire star, the Nets FO will instead go for...
(drumroll please)
DeMarcus Cousins. IMO, in the NBA no matter who the owner, GM or coach is, teams seem to repeat their patterns in the draft. The young, mercurial (that's what they used to call Ron Artest, before crazy started to stick) bigman out of Kentucky shows hints of Al Jefferson and Eddy Curry, but the closest comparison I have made to him is Derrick Coleman.
Cousins could be a 22/10 guy from day one, but I don't believe he'll contribute positively in terms of W-L they way that Evan Turner or even Wesley Johnson will. Still, I think that if we don't get Wall, Thorn and Co. will see the hole at PF as bigger and harder to fill than the one we have at SG, and go for the PF/C. Do you guys feel that this is a possibility? If so, how would you like it? If not, why not?

Re: Draft Question: If We Don't Get Wall...
Cousins has top 5 talent potential in my eyes. It's funny cause I see him all over the board on Mock Drafts. We may be able to nab him with the Dallas pick if his stock drops due to attitude concerns. I think we can find a team that would be willing to take the Dallas pick and our 2nd rounder (basically like a first round pick without the guarantees) and move up to the late teens and nab a decent big man. Cousins may be there. Hell Patrick Patterson may be there (I wish he was a little bit taller, but he's efficient and has a solid bball IQ).
We have a lot of chips to play with this draft nonetheless in my opinion. I EXPECT our management to be a mover/shaker on draft night in some capacity.

Re: Draft Question: If We Don't Get Wall...
I'd much rather go for Favors or Turner over Cousins. I don't even care about Cousins attitude which is pretty bad. I see bunch of weaknesses that wouldn't fit well with the Nets. He's not a great athlete (always a huge red flag, IMO). I don't think he can guard PFs or the pick and roll very well (PnR is huge for PFs). I think right now he's getting by on his combination of strength and size, which in the NBA, he really isn't going to have. I don't think he's going to be a great finisher in the league either. Personally, I think if we were desperate for low post scoring, he'd be a great pick but we already have Brook Lopez. I don't think it'd be terrible if we had a big front court of Brook and Cousins but I would have questions on how we'd do against elite PFs and how Cousins would fit with Brook. I do think his toughness and passion would be welcome here though.
I'd much rather have Derrick Favors as a guy who could be a monster on defense and the boards. He's going to be an elite finisher and once he develops a little bit of a face up and a jump shot, he could be a perfect fit next to Brook. Unfortunately, he's in a terrible situation right now.

Cousins is the clear cut #2-3 pick IMO. He is much better then Favors and has just as high, if not a higher upside. Problem is his attitude, but at the same time, sometimes a "thug mentality" is quite beneficial and just what is needed to excel in the league as a big man.
No way this guy slips out of the top 5 though.

Cousins might be a better player (maybe it's still a toss up becasue Favors looks good at times) but if he turns into another SWAT I would hate Thorn for putting us through this season for nothing.
My order is
Wall
Turner
Favors
Cousins
My order is
Wall
Turner
Favors
Cousins

I like him.

I don't know much about him except what I read(haven't seen him play besides Youtube), but I hear he is a little soft. He is a guy, IMO, that will wind up somewhere between 10 and 18th, that is somewhat realistic to snag by moving up with the Dallas pick, the 2nd rounder and a player.

Evan Turner
I'd stay away from Cousins, his attitude is cancer, and he'll never be a 20/10 player.

Re: Draft Question: If We Don't Get Wall...
I don't see why you say he'll never be a 20/10 player?
He has the size, length, skillset, tenacity and his #'s are off the chain based on per minute averages, hell based on anything.
I'm not going to lie, I don't like his attitude, but I don't see how he is a cancer when he is pretty much option 1b on the #2 team in the nation, a team with 1 loss and title aspirations.
