Ecuhus1981's Dream Offseason

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Fri Apr 16, 2010 6:13 pm

1) Nets win the NBA draft lottery. Select John Wall with the 1st pick, Ed Davis with the 27th (injury concerns will drop his stock... ), and Paul George with the 31st.

2) July 1st: Trade w/ NJN, MIN and POR

Portland: Joel Pryzbilla, Rudy Fernandez, Dante Cunningham and '10 POR 1st (#20) for Devin Harris, Ryan Hollins and Wayne Ellington
Minnesota: Ryan Hollins, Wayne Ellington and '10 UTA 1st (#24) for Joel Pryzbilla, Rudy Fernandez and Kris Humphries
New Jersey: Devin Harris and Kris Humphries for Dante Cunningham, #20 (Luke Babbitt) and #24 (Solomon Alabi)

3) Sign (wait for it... wait for it...) LeBron James to a 5-year max contract.

4) Sign David Lee to a 5-year, $55mil contract.

5) Sign Nate Robinson to a 4-year, $17mil contract.

FINAL LINEUP

Wall, Williams, James, Lee, Lopez
Robinson, Lee, Babbitt, Jianlian, Alabi
Dooling, Roberts, Cunningham, Davis

Nate Robinson is part of your dream offseason?? And then youd like to have FIVE rookies??? I know its a dream scenario but I dont think Lebron is signing here either.

That's your dream?

My dream is sign Joe Johnson, Chris Bosh, Lebron James all to mid-level type contracts, draft John Wall, and then trade Keyon Dooling, T-Will, and Humphries to the Hornets for Chris Paul. Thent rade Devin Harris for the 8th pick and some depth.

Chris Paul/John Wall
Joe Johnson/Lee
Lebron James/CDR
Chris Bosh/Yi
Lopez/Aldrich

Championship.

As much as I dislike that offseason of yours, I'd turn a blind eye to it if you deleted Ed Davis from that.

Seriously Ed Davis is the most overrated player in college. He is hot trash. Unless we put 4 stars on our team like the Celtics do with Kendrick Perkins (guy is completely worthless) Davis will suck. This year people should have realized that he can't ball. I've been saying that since he stepped on UNC's campus to my mindless tarheel fan friends.

I know you hate Davis, but we're talking about him at pick #27

My issues here (in no particular order)

1. No way Davis falls to 27

2. I don't love the Harris trade, but I at least understand it considering the it does create about $8 million in cap space. The problem is....

3. You basically used that cap space for Nate Robinson :o while also keeping Dooling at close to $4 million. I like David Lee, but with the cap space you have in this scenario, the space is there for a guy like Bosh, Joe Johnson, etc.

Gani Lawal will likely be there or around there at 27. Not only is that a more realistic person to be there, he's also going to be a better pro than Davis and better suited to play next to Brook anyway.

1. Watch it happen.

2. and 3. Yeah, I was thinking about what best to do with the max-level capspace that the 2nd deal creates. Wade would be THE perfect use of those resources, but he is a pipe dream. Bosh isn't coming here; he's not thrilled about it, and TOR will be inundated with S&T offers from HOU, CHI, DAL and other teams before our contract hits the table. We could go for Stoudemire with a max deal (someone will offer it, and he'll follow the money), but I'm not sure that he's worth it. That leaves Joe Johnson. I could warm to idea of him in NJ, because he would be a picture-perfect fit between James and Wall. But giving JJ anything above $12mil/year is asking for trouble IMO.

Of course I'd be happier with Joe or Amare than Nate&David, but I won't be heartbroken in the likely event that someone else woos them. Lee and Robinson wouldn't be a bad consolation prize. See, I was at least attempting to be somewhat realistic!
