Hell no. Have you checked these dudes shooting percentages or their game logs?
Ever watched them play?
They're terrible players. They can do one thing, shoot the 3. Funny thing is, they aren't even elite at that aspect of the game. They're like a poor man's Kapono.

demens wrote:Just found out that he has a buy out too
Jones can be bought out of his 2010-11 contract for $1.86 million by June 30, in which case he would receive a similar sum in each of the ensuing two seasons on his contract, as well.

With that news i say go for it.

As far as I know, this trade cannot be officially agreed upon before June 30th.
But...it cannot be officially completed until July 8th when the 2010-11 cap figures are used.
Therefore, as far as I have been told, Jones would become guaranteed, for the next 3 years!
Ugh.

Even if we strikeout in FA (or are sure we are going to), our FO has to be sure Beasley is worth the risk or that Beasley will be a valuable future trade commodity.

Maybe Heat can buy him out (with our money) and trade the contract? Not sure if that legal. Either way I dont think the risk is that big.

And Poor Mans Kapono > CDR.

Look at Doolings # vs Jones for example. Jones can defend and has SF size unlike CDR. Defend and shoot the 3 well is all i want from the SF spot for now. With playmakers like Wall/Twitt and Devin Jones/Cook/Lee are not bad options to surround them with. All 36% + career 3 point shooters.

I'm really not a huge CDR fan and have grown to dislike his disposition some, but no, neither of those guys is > CDR.
You mentioned not wanting to fill out the bench with D-Leaguer's.
Well guess what? Those two guys are the utter definition of D-Leaguer's.

I thought I was playing basketball with Daequan Cook the other day because the guy I was playing with couldn't pass, shoot, dribble, or defend but then I saw him make a shot so I knew I was wrong.

Maybe it was Boobie Gibson?

^^^^ Eh, I don't agree with that comment. Beasley has a TON more potential than these guys EVER had. Actually though, I love Danny Manning. I'd be fine with a poor man's Manning on our team.

Now with that said, I've always been down Beasley because i don't wanna give up anything of relative value for him. But if we can get him basically for free, I'll welcome him with open arms. Now, by that I really mean if they basically ONLY trade us Beasley for a future 2nd. In Chad Ford's deal, that other 1st rounder coming to us would basically be a nice gesture for taking Cook and Jones in the package too and I don't want them which I why I left the pick out. I know Miami will want to unload all of them and that is where I draw the line, but if it really was just Beasley for a 2011 2nd rounder, then I sign on the bottom line and give it a shot.

Unfortunately, like other people mentioned, Miami wouldn't go for this. They want to take us out of the running for a max contract this summer. I think we'd have a shot at Melo next summer (and I realistically think that is what management may be focusing on now anyway), but doing the deal Chad Ford mentioned would even hurt those chances. Would we have the room for Melo in 2011? Yes I believe so, but why would Melo want to come play with a bunch of knucklehead kids that still probably won't make the playoffs with him on the team.

My offseason of of this moment (because it'll change in an hour) is this:

- Try hard to sign Amare. If not, go after Boozer. If not, try to get Love. If not, David Lee.

- Work a 3 team deal with Utah and another team (like Indy) basically sending Harris/Hump/Yi/maybe a future pick where we end up with AK47's expiring and maybe a filler or future pick or something. His play improved a lot this season compared to the last 2. Plus he's Prokorov's boy and is a big expiring for next summer.

Line up

Wall/Dooling
Lee/Twill
AK47/CDR
Whichever PF we end up with/our other 1st/2nd round pick
Lopez/Boone/Out other 1st/2nd round pick

That upgrades the 3 position for next year (we can probably resign AK for cheap the following year to be a solid 6-7 man off the bench. It also gives us the cap room to land Melo.

2011-2012 Season Lineup

Wall/Vet PG
Twill/Lee
Melo/AK
Whatever PF we landed
Lopez

p.s. If anyone cares, my econ paper for grad school is doing regression analysis to see if there is a pattern between Nets attendance in relation to their winning %, per capita income and the unemployment rate over the last 15 years.

a) I think we can go after our Free Agent targets before pulling the trigger on this deal.
b) I still say we are not in the running for Max players. Our best choices are Boozer/Lee/Gay who we can get even with the Miami deal
c) Yes, we can still afford Melo in 2011 with this deal, and the knockheads wont be on the roster in 2011 so its not a problem at all.

I see this deal as a 1 year rental upgrade for Yi. I'd take Gooden if that was an option, having some potential in a young player is an absolute luxury added bonus.
