False.
Gay is a putrid defender.

Lol I think you and I watch 2 different teams. I think Rudy Gay is a smart defender and OJ's defense is overrated while you think the exact opposite lol.

I'm just curious though what other SF do we think the Nets could realistically acquire this offseason if we us our cap space on a PF?

I am not necessarily against getting Gay but I shudder when looking at some of his advanced stats and I have watched a decent amount of Grizz games and he has a lot of glaring holes and flaws to his game. Even a lot of the Memphis fans don't care if they lose him.

well its not putrid...maybe there are holes, but on most nights he does a solid job...Gay has a lot to learn, but the potential/skills are there for him to be an above avg defender...

So if you had a guyn to your head and had to pick one of two, J. Johnson or R. Gay, who would it be?

I'll make it known that if Rudy Gay was our ONLY big move, I'd be pretty pissed.

With that said, I'd much rather have him at his price than Joe Johnson at the amount that guy wants.

This is a tough one. I think it really depends on the moves we make between now and the draft, but I think I would lean towards Gay. Yeah, I'd go Gay. He has the chance to still break out if he ever gets it, at least for the next two seasons and if his contract isn't too bloated he makes for an interesting S&T piece if Melo in fact wanted to come here in 2011.

I'm stuck on dreaming of Melo in a Nets uni now. I'm not giving up on this summer, but I think if we wait, we have a 100% shot at getting him to tell you the truth.

Yeah, I really think Melo is going to come here as well, so I'm not super worried about this offseason and truthfully we might be better just making small moves to bolster the bench this offseason and getting a top 10 pick again next draft, as long as we're competitive and watchable this season and we get a premier coach and our young guys like Lopez, Lee and T Will take steps in the right direction and Harris stays healthy.

Dude is a Brooklyn native, his wife is from NYC, he probably wants the big spotlight next to Bron and I am sadly starting to think the Knix will get James. Will make for a very interesting rivalry in the tristate, the East, the Atlantic division and the NBA in general though.

Edit: Although he really grew up in Baltimore too, so maybe he goes to the Wizards? :dontknow:

He went to college in Syracuse. You'll also be a year closer to the Brooklyn move, so he might do it.

As for the original topic, post draft this seems pointless. The Nets are drafting Favors or Cousins, no need to move Harris for Bynum.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
