I really dont buy this whole they will pair up stuff, so we'll see.
If we are able to bring in a second superstar...you seriously dont see how that would entice Lebron more than keeping Yi and Humphries around?
See...its not that the second star is the only piece to the puzzle. Knicks fans have nothing else to talk about as a recruiting leg up. I mean we can also offer NY. Us and the Bulls can offer far more supporting players. Heat have Wade already.
But...if we can add the second max player option...with selling the NY market, all the rook contracts and picks we still own the next few years....it will give us a serious leg up in the sales pitch. Do I think its the only way to get him? No...but absolutely...it would open eyes if we can pitch to two max guys or S&T to get the second. Knicks have to S&T with Lee....IF Lee is willing to go to the market of the second star. Like...would he go to Toronto if its Bosh?
Now, we could get "some" of the extra cap room. Humphries opts out....we are around 12-13 mil. What if you can sign Lee outright? If Lebron thought that was enough of an upgrade...it would also seriously dent the Knicks leverage....that is if Bosh as the example is dead set on getting his extra year and the 30mil. If that is the deal breaker...and now its Devin, Brook, Lee the rest of the rook contract talent...the picks in this draft...that's a lot of flexibility.
There are options here. But lets not be naive and think there isn't an angle to having the cap room for that second big name or the ability to S&t for that guy.
Its part of the puzzle.
