You're not really a realist, I consider you more of a pessimist. We had all the required tools for a shot at the top free agents, why not go for them and be optimistic about it? We do have a chance, we can compte for their signature, the only thing holding us back would be the player themselves. So in theory, we're being the realists, because it is realistic that we can get Lebron.

I was actually going to post the same thing Jeff posted, but I'll also add will you be willing to pay Gay $86million? If you say yes to that, then you my friend, deserve an E-slap

EDIT: I'd also like to say, I wouldn't mind seeing TWill start next year, push him along his progression. (If we strike out obviously)

Look we all know this was a possibility...we strike out. Which is perfectly fine. No need to waste money on the Goodens and Gays (for what he got).

We've got a borderline All-star PG, a near All-Star C, and a legitimate jack of all trades SF in Twill. We've just added a PF with legit franchise player potential, and another SF who does the dirty work. The only other position that I think we need to improve on (youth wise) is SG, where I feel Courtney Lee is better suited as someone to come off the bench.

Give this team a playmaker at that SG spot and it's really going to take off in the next year or so. No need to go crazy coz we didn't get Lebron.

I think people are not only going stir crazy that we are not getting Lebron, but because we missed out on the other big free agents like Wade, Bosh, Amare, Boozer, and the other players who opt out like Pierce and Dirk. Unless Lebron knows we are getting CP3 and David Lee, no way he's coming here...

I think people are overreacting to everything.
What has changed since the last few days with the exception of Boozer and Jarred freakin' Dudley claiming he has a crystal ball?

We are still in this and if we aren't, we never really were to begin with.

All this talk of a big man, I think it's over blown and at the same time understated.

I think Lebron really wanted to play with Bosh. That was it. Get me Bosh, I come with.

After that, I don't know that he cared so much about Boozer and Amar'e, he might view Brook Lopez as a bigger draw then those two.

We shall see, but I'm still cautiously optimistic.

Yes, I understand this, but I don't think it was a big suprise, I think even Lebron knew in his head and heart that Bosh was going to sign with the Heat.

If Lebron signs with the cavs i think it will be for two years. That's when Brooklyn will be finished and our boys will have devleloped more. Any one agree?

If he does that does anyone think FRONT loading a FA contract is a good idea? If so who?

Yeah I know the CBA is coming up. But seriously Le Bron will get his no matter what happens. Mr Stern will see to that

I don't know how we're going to have cap space in two years. Brook will have to be given his big contract that year, Courtney Lee would need a new contract, plus whoever else we sign between now and then. I don't know, I just don't see it.

Wade was never an option. And really, I don't think Bosh was either unless Lebron went to him and said "come with me and you're getting the max". All season long, Bosh had NOTHING good to say about the Nets. Once he hit free-agency, the tune changed (as you'd expect). So to me, our chances were always Lebron........Bosh.....................Wade.

And then Amare? Boozer? Pierce? Dirk? Pierce and Dirk were virtual locks to stay. Only the eternal hopeful would have thought they were going to jump ship. And really, up until we saw the contracts being ridiculously handed out this off-season, was there ANYONE willing to shell out the kind of money that Amare and Boozer got?

Nothing's changed. This off-season was always been Lebron or bust as far as Free-agency goes. If Lebron decides to go somewhere, we stay the course and continue to build.

One thing thats giving me hope is why in the hell NJ camp are so cool and quiet right now after all what happened today? Especially Jay-Z. I mean they are BEST friends and treat each other like brothers, there are no more tampering accusations thats going to happen so IF LeBron is not really coming, wouldnt he at least give Jay a heads up just to make sure his best friend or big brother wouldnt be too down on his investments?

I mean we're talking a quick phone call here not a big meeting like what happened on the 1st. Unless the Nets management knows already and they just accepted everything and decided to not pursue anybody and remain low profile for now and push after this season, which wouldnt be a bad idea considering we still have so much assets.

I just feel like if LeBron told Jay already, that we would act differently and start panicking because its just the basic instinct since this is one of the biggest moments in the history of the NBA and almost every team waited for this moment for years. So for me, since i dont hear any news that would seem like we're panicking, i would still put our team in contention.

We are still in it!!! Go Nets!!!!

The only thing left to do is A. Sign the best of the rest Harrington-Jefferson-Tyrus-Outlaw-RJ-Tony Allen or trade to teams looking to dump Al Jefferson Rip Hamilton.

Go get David Lee, JJ Reddick and a point guard to backup Devin. We needed rebounding, shooting and defense this offseason. Favors, D. James and Q. Ross gives us the defense, Reddick gives us the range we need at the two, D. Lee gives us the board hog down in the post we've been starving for since Jason Williams left. He's also a good pick-n-roll partner for Devin, which helps free up Brook.

I think it's about that time.
It's alright, I don't think we ever had as good a chance as it seemed, I think we made a lot of the right moves and put ourselves in strong position to be true players in the game.
In the end, that's all you can ask. It's up to the player to choose his own path, whether that path seems wrong to us or not.
I personally have not conceded defeat yet though. We still have a punchers chance.

The one thing in all of this O dont get. The "leak" of what Proky thought. True? Not true? And if it was true...if he really thought that...why not move hard on one of the other bigs right away?

That part just baffles the mind...

Why is everyone so sure Lebron is gone though?

Did he really want to play with Boozer who left him high and dry years ago?

Is he really interested in playing with Amar'e and his balky knees?

Does anyone really believe any team is going to help create cap space in Miami for a Big 3?

Does he really want to remain in Cleveland with that crappy cast and few trade assets to improve, especially if they retain Delonte and his MILFing ways?

Does he really want to play for a 12 win team in the former car theft capitol of the US?

All these teams have serious flaws and downfalls to go with the highs.

And no one has the trade assets we do to go after Chris Paul.

We're still in this.

Byilieve.

I am with you brother. BUT. Dont we have to pull the Paul rabbit before tomorrow night? I know you think he decided already before announcing the press conference...but if Paul is the fix...an I believe he is....doesnt it have to be done? So what's the thought? That it is done? Best kept sceret? We are reaching here....

Not looking good right now. If somehow its us tomorrow...its the best kept secret in sports history....

I don't think it's looking good at all and I'm starting to think there is truth to the Big 3 in Miami rumors...

I think we're going to have to hope to form our own Big 3 to battle against them with a combo of Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Brook Lopez, if that's even close to a realistic possibility and I am not so sure that's a better team, but at least it's a legitimate counter strike.

To start this thing out, at best we had a 20% chance of Lebron coming to the Nets...the Odds maybe faired better, when we were adding up the pros for LBJ to come to the Nets...then maybe the meeting w/ LBJ and maybe even the media ballooned it up for a couple of days too...but once we got to yesterday, it easily dropped down to 5% chance at best...obviously you guys knew it was an outside shot...

Gay overpaid, JJ overpaid, Boozer didnt have any real interest in the Nets and Donnie had something done w/ GS while wating for Lebron, basically blocking us from Lee...

I truly was never a big optimistic with this year's FA class...I realized after Vince was traded, the Nets were in control of their own destiny via FA/draft and I was intrigued by our chances after the Yi trade...if we were going to shoot for the big names, it ALL CAMED DOWN TO the Nets front office being able to, being capable of CONVINCING a FA we are a great destination for a promising NBA future...I dont think we fell short with our pitch...Its just that no one was willing to bite...

So its not our time...so lets take our time and not overpay...Outlaw changed that and I am NOW a bit concerend with what type of front loaded contract Tyrus will be receiving, if he does, which I am hoping we skip this idea completely...Travis getting 5 yrs!!!, seriously dont get it...hoping for some sort of trade, ect...

I'll hold off on the panicing for now, but my finger rests right next to the panic button...

Return to Brooklyn Nets
