Looks like the Jazz are getting closer on a deal for him. Personally, i don´t know if there´s already a thread on this, but i think we should go for him. His contract is not bad (it expires in 3 years), he put 17 and 9, he´s probably the best power forward available and the Timberwolves are only demanding picks, nothing else. What do you think?
Also, we should take a look at Troy Murphy. He´d spread the floor, is the final year of his contract and definitely, he can rebound....

Re: why not Al Jefferson
I think the reason the Nets decided not to pursue Al Jefferson all comes down to fit.
Defensively I don't think Al Jefferson is mobile enough to guard the better power forwards in the league, and the same can be said for Brook Lopez.
I think if you had both Al and Brook on the same team it would also necessitate you trading Devin Harris.
Al Jefferson is a half court player, and generally speaking with two plodding post-scoring big men you have to slow things down to get the most out of both of them.
Maybe it would have worked, maybe it wouldn't have, but the majority of fit reasons that caused the Nets to draft Favors over Cousins apply to why they didn't try to trade for Al Jefferson.

I really dont get why the jJazz did this. If you are goin to pay this much for Al Jeff after his health issues...who not go two more years for Boozer? Did Boozer just say...screw you Jazz...dont want to be here anymore...see ya?
I just figured they let him go because their payroll is so high...and they have Milsap a much cheaper option. Why not let him go...play Milsap, let AK come off the books next summer and come back strong later? Dont get it.

I never got the impression that Boozer gave a return to Utah much consideration. Yes, they could have had some nice cap flexibility in a year if they held tight and let AK walk, but Utah isn't exactly a premier FA destination even with Deron. I'm sure alienating Deron was a big concern if they didn't do something.

Eh...with 68mil in payroll take your chances. They lured Boozer in the first place didnt they?
I dont like it. Why not hold the TE and the picks....and see what was out there mid season...or at the break. Let Milsap play...run up his value...make a move later.

One other thing I forgot to mention in the previous post is that Okur did rupture his achilles in the playoffs. Big Al's ability to play C is all the more imperative as a result.

Re: why not Al Jefferson
He's not the player Boozer is, he isn't going to work nearly as well.
They probably still miss the playoffs with no further moves, especially if they let Matthews go and that contract he signed is just absolutely disgusting.
Deron is going to be demanding out soon enough. Good. I always hated the Jazz for some reason.

I pretty much disagree with everything in your post.

You think so? With Bell and Al there now? Williams-Bell-AK-Millsap-Al
They always make the playoffs. Never thought he was unhappy.
