I would in a second. even though im not sure what the whole package would be. can anyone think of a realistic Package for getting both CP3 and Okafor?
but anyways i would trade favors for CP3. we are supposed to collect "assets" to trade for a SUPERSTAR and CP3 is definitely a SUPERSTAR. hes with out a doubt the best PG in the league when healthy ( ok maybe him and D Will r tied) theres no way that i would let Favors "potential" get in the way of getting this guy. Favors Might become the next Dwight Howard or amare Stoudemire. but he also might be the next big time BUST of the DRAFT. We know what we r getting in CP3 and All STAR, and All NBA first teamer, an NBA DEFENSIVE first teamer. i would def do this
Ok now the other question is will i be willing to take on Okafor and his huge contract to get Paul. and the answer to that is ....... YES! i would take on Okafor. its not like hes a horrible player. hes actually pretty freakin good. career avgs of 13ppg 10rebs and 2 Blocks. and hes player all 82 games for the past 3 years. i think he would be great next to brook. we would have one of the best big man duos in the league ( probably just behind the Lakers and Magic). im sorry but i dont like potential so im extremely willing to give up Favors cuz hey Okafor's stat line might end up being all that Favors becomes.
this is what i would love to see as our starting 5
CP3
Clee
Outlaw
Okafor
Lopez
with our bench being
Farmar
morrow
Petro
Humphries
James
Ross
Zoubek
Uzoh
assuming that Harris, Twill, and favors are in the trade
That would be a great defensive team with our Bigs and CP3 and Lee out on the perimeter with Outlaw and James athleticism to. and we would be a pretty good offensive team with the best PG setting everyone up and scoring himself and Lopez on the inside with Okafor banging down low for offensive boards and Morrow, Farmar, Outlaw, James, and Lee spotting up and hitting threes.
I Know this is probably not going down but im just saying if it does i would LOVE IT!

I have already outlined this in a few threads. Just read some of what's on the board already.

I would trade Favors to get Paul, but I would not take on Okafor.
While the roster you threw out there is pretty good, I question how legit of a contender it really is. As good as that Paul/Lopez combo is, the other 3 starting spots are below average. Yes, Okafor has PF height, but does he really have the quickness to be a good PF?
The biggest thing is that you have basically max-ed out your roster with this trade as you are officially capped out for the foreseeable future and you don't really have the pieces to add a 3rd impact player. With so much buzz about him not wanting to come here and looking to bolt after 2 years, the blowup factor is way too great here IMO.
With Paul being a flight risk, I need the flexibility to add another big player down the road, either with cap space or by being able to flip Favors down the road. Without that, I think you are setting yourself up to lose Paul to greener pastures and a better "superstar" than Lopez.

Yeah thats probably the biggest issue. that would be crazy if we got him then he goes away 2 years later potentially to the Knicks of all places. yes the salary cap is a huge issue to. but we could ask for a trade exception New orleans does have 5 of them worth a total of 15 mil.

I would think the nets would try to make the draft picks as the big chips. But I would not want to trade Favors however it is what it is CP3.

Too much is bveing made out of being a flight risk. Everyone is a flight risk when they become a free agent. He is under contract for two years. If the Nets have serious concerns...it gets addressed in a sit down with AGENT/PLAYER once NO says...OK we are interested in your offer.
I think being maxed out cap wise if you dont have any realistic targets for the cap space isnt the end of world...that is...if you still have pieces to improve by trade. Devil says no here...but I think that is why I have been lookingat ways to add two impact pieces now. ITs why I think Granger has become more interesting. Hsi contract per talent is excellent. I happen to think NO would love to NOT have to take on Devin. If you can use Devin in one deal, and Favors in the other...and take on Okabarf...I could see working something where you actually did get your best value for your cap and had a very nice team. I think Melo is beyond the biggeast pipe dream out there...and we know Granger was offered with the #10 pick to us for Devin/Favors. Take out Favors, and #10 George...andcan you put in a lesser secondary prospect to get something done? Espeically if the Pacers are high on Geroge to replace Granger?
I dont want Okaslag....but if he is the price and you can do two nice moves? A pretty nice rebounding/shot blocking combo of guys even if they arent an ideal fit. Okamediocre wont get in Brook's way on offense...and that would concern me more fit wise.

If you can get Indy to do a Granger deal based on Devin while at the same time making the numbers work with a Paul/Okafor combo that's great. I'd have to double-check the numbers, but I'm thinking that's unrealistic.

Re: would U trade Favors and take on Okafor for CP3?
Realistically...Outlaw would have gone out in the NO deal...but that cant happen until December. I had figured it out the other day. The recent Paul developments make it that much harder....since it seems you have to move up the timing.
But...as of now...we have 14.95 in cap space. So we can eat Paul 100% and have to salary match for Okathree to make that work....Devin salary matches for Granger straight up...that's not a problem. Its what is the second piece? Lee? Twill?
Have to figure out the match for Okatwo....that's harder without having another big contract to start with. Devin and Outlaw are the two biggest. So? Without Outlaw...you have to piece mail it.
Without dealing with cap holds....its around 9.16 needed in salary going out to the Hornets for both guys.
Favors, Hump is 7.3. Still need another 2mil in there. Twill and you are there. But I had him going with Devin to get Granger initially in my mind...and Outlaw with Favors for the Hornets pair...add picks as needed. So do you send Lee and Ross? I think if the deal goes down now..that is the only option...unless of course you deal James instead of one of them..but I really dont want to do that.
Well....those are the batches at this time with the trade restrictions we have to deal with....
1- Devin/Twill
2- Favors/Hump/Ross/Lee
Ross/Lee can be swapped with Twill in either package...but figure Devin to Indy...Favors to NO.
Only thing left to do...check out if it works with whatever cap holds have to be dealt with along the way....since you are seding out 6 and taking back 3.
We get to December and Paul still isnt dealt...it all changes....but I think the timing on this thing due to what's going on in NO...is what effects my original plan.

Note:
Really all that matters salary match wise is the 9.16 you have to come up with for Okaseven. So, Twil/Favors/Hump can get that done. But would Indy take Devin/picks, maybe add Lee? I know VC4P thinks we can get pretty close to Devin straight up for Granger...but I thought he was nuts. I think I might have to bash him in the head for making me believe it.
But this is possible cap wise Devil....

I wasn't quite sure if it was possible cap wise to do both Paul/Okafor and Granger since you can't trade any of the FAs (technically you can't trade Favors either, but we'll suspend that reality for the moment). Either way, I knew it was cutting it very close since the only "movable" players left would be Brook and Damian James.
Now the bigger issue IMO is that frankly, I don't think Indy has any interest in a Granger for Devin and change trade. Granger/10 for Harris/3 was the most common rumor out there in June and as we both know the talent gap between 10 and 3 is massive. Heck think back to how little interest most here had in the proposals of 3 for Thompson/5 or Randolph/6. Both of those guys are more valued prospects than TWill. From a pure value standpoint for Indy Devin/TWill for Granger is a pretty big step down from their asking price at the draft. Indy also has depth on the wings with Paul George, Brandon Rush, Dahntay Jones, Dunleavy and Stephenson.
Personally, I don't think there are enough pieces left after a Paul/Okafor trade to land Granger. My question to you then is what is your plan B? A Paul/Devin backcourt is unlikely to work, you wouldn't be dealing from a position of strength with Devin, and TWill is the only added enticement you can add.
