Nets vs Knicks breakdown Nets win

Post#1 » by Dexmor » Thu Aug 19, 2010 12:06 am

Isn't this correct?

Center -Advantage Nets

Ronny T vs Lopez

PF.Knicks advantage

Amare and Randolphvs Murphy and Favors

SF-Knicks

Gallo vs Outlaw

SG-Advantage Nets

Chandler vs Williams and Morrow

PG-Nets clearly

Harris and Farmar vs Felton and Douglas

Coach tied-One is to hard it hurts the team and one is to easy it hurts the team. Tied.
Bench is way deeper in NJ imo

So tell me exactly how the Knicks are better?

Why make this and attract the trolls?

Besides, who cares who's better, we're both mediocre teams anyways.

Determining who the better team is is not so simple as adding up at how many positions one team has the "advantage", especially when degree of advantage is not taken into account.

By this logic, the Jordan-Pippen Bulls teams would have been adjudged "inferior", by a 3-2 margin, to just about every team that they beat in the finals.

And either way, how exactly did you manage to flip the Nets as having the advantage at SG.

Azubuike will be the starting sg for the Knicks, I think.

Because Wilson Chandler is lame?

Wow. Just Wow.

Favors is at least 2 years away from being an NBA player.
Harris is injured more often then he isnt injured.
Travis Outlaw is a role player at best
Farmar is not much better then boobie gibson.
Petro is a bum, there is a reason why he hasnt found a team yet.
T Will shot 40% from the field last season and 30% from 3. (btw, your SG spot is not better then Chandler/Azubuike/Mason JR/Billy Walker)

Your team is a joke compared to the knicks. You go from a 12 win team last year, add Favors/Farmar/Petro and now all of a sudden your team is good and has a great bench? Being optimistic is one thing, but your only setting yourself up for failure.

Harris shot 40% from the field and 27% from 3pt range(not quite the same harris from 2 years ago) while felton shot 46 from the field and 39% from 3pt range. His assist numbers are going to skyrocket in a run and gun system. And Felton is DURABLE.

You guys could have had a good team in a year or 2 if your front office would have done a good job this offseason, but they didnt. They put all their money into bench players.

Knicks win by a long shot. And this isnt homerism from me, its just common sense.

This is why I think threads like these shouldn't be made. It attracts stupidity.

-Yes, Favors is a project but he's still a far more valuable prospect than anyone in a knicks uniform.
-Yes, Harris is constantly injured so you won't get an argument out of me there.
-Travis Outlaw IS a role player but what the hell are Turiaf, Chandler and Felton?
-Farmar is a bum yet Roger Mason is the 2nd coming of Jesus?
-Yes, Petro is a bum but he'll play 12 minutes at most.. who cares.
-T-will also won Rookie of the month for April. He was terrible the first 2 months of the season but once he finally got it he was a top 10 rookie. He averaed 14,6,5 on 44% shooting.

Your team is a joke compared to the knicks. You go from a 12 win team last year, add Favors/Farmar/Petro and now all of a sudden your team is good and has a great bench? Being optimistic is one thing, but your only setting yourself up for failure.

Oh STFU.. don't come in here and act as if the Knicks are gonna finish top 4 in the east. It;;s also irrelevant to mention the 12 win season. Why? Because we only have 4 players from last years team on the roster AND a completely new coaching staff.

Harris shot 40% from the field and 27% from 3pt range(not quite the same harris from 2 years ago) while felton shot 46 from the field and 39% from 3pt range. His assist numbers are going to skyrocket in a run and gun system. And Felton is DURABLE.

If felton is that important why didn;t the Bobcats at least TRY and retain him? I mean they decided to roll with DJ agustin as their PG next year. If felton is that great than why did no one besides the Knicks bid for him?? Why, because he sucks.. It's easy to criticize a guya after a down year, but Harris is a year removed from averaging 21 and 7. He was one of the best players for a 60 win team that went to the finals AND is gonna player for his former coach that made him a top defender at the PG spot. If you seriously believe that felton is better than Harris, than you my friend are delusional.

You guys could have had a good team in a year or 2 if your front office would have done a good job this offseason, but they didnt. They put all their money into bench players.

Knicks win by a long shot. And this isnt homerism from me, its just common sense.

And you dealt a top 8 pick and 2 first rounders for cap space just to sign Raymond Felton. Look, your team had an above average offseason ONLY because of the David Lee sign and trade. In terms of free agency you struck out just like us. Don't pretend that you guys got exactly what you wanted by signing the 4th guy on your list after striking out on Lebron, Wade and Bosh. You spent the last 3 years giving away picks, solid players and ultimately settling for mediocrity for Amare and Felton. In 08 if Knicks fans were told how free agency would eventually turn out, would you have given away all hose picks and settle for mediocrity? Don't think so.

While we also traded away players for cap space.. unlike you we stacked up picks and assets. Terrence Williams, Courtney lee(who was traded away straight up for a better player), Derrick Favors, Brook Lopez, 3 1st rounders the next 2 years and an ass load of 1nd rounders. We struck out badly in FA but every player we signed is 25 years and younger.

The knicks probably do have the better team but to me it doesn't matter. I don't really celebrate if I have a team only capable of nabbing an 8th seed with zero possibilties of getting past the 1st round. And please don't talk as if you're Miami or Orlando.. ''Knicks win in a longshot''... give me a break.. you're a 7th seed at best.

--Derrick Favors is raw, but he isn't 2 years away from being an nba player. maybe 2 years away from being a starter, but he can definitely contribute off the bench
-T-Will shot 43.5% over the final 2 months of the season, a higher shooting % than your untouchable gallo, while putting up 14 ppg, 7 rpg and 5apg.
-Travis Outlaw isn't expected to be the focal point of the offense
-Farmar has played his entire nba career in the triangle where hasn't had the ball in his hands and hasn't shown what he is truely capable of.
-Petro is Lopez's backup. He is not going to play serious minutes.

-You only use shooting % as a method of comparison is that some type of joke. Devin Harris played through injuries last year and was an all star two years ago. He has much better supporting cast this year and is healthy so I expect him to return to form.

They brought in much more than much Farmar, Petro and Favors. You mentioned Outlaw above but say there a 12 win team that only brings in Farmar, Petro and Favors so you obviously forgot to include him. They bring in Morrow arguably the best 3 point shooter in the league which will help a team that didn't have anyone in the top 50 in the league in 3 point shooting. They also bring in a top 10 rebounder in the league to a team that really struggle rebounding the ball. They also added Damion James who was one of the most impressive players in the Orlando Summer League.

Didn't you try doing this before and a mod deleted it? Why the F are you going to do it again? Quit flooding the board with (Please Use More Appropriate Word) threads that will attract trolls and create a pissing match.

Why would this thread be locked? Both are gonna be NY teams so there is a rivalry and both teams got rid of there whole team for the 2010 free agents.
This is a totally legit bball debate. What is the problem?
How will it attract trolls? Maybe a Knicks fan will come and make his case for the Knicks but what is wrong with that?
You guys are so freaking uptight it's insane.

Anyway back to the basketball debate (see im crazy I come on the boards to debate ball)

I don't think you can mention the 12 win season last year or say we got Favors/Petro so now were good.
We only have 4 players from last year on this team.

I see Terrance Williams completely breaking out and being better then Chandler and Gallo.
Murphy/Favors are not as good as Amare/Randolph right now but they could be better by the break.
C and PG we kill the Knicks.

Chandler and Williams can both play sg fulltime. The sf/sg spot is the most interchangeable spots in the game.
