Anthony Morrow will be a Net faster than expected. The Nets and Warriors tentatively agreed to a sign-and-trade Monday instead of having New Jersey send an offer sheet to Golden State. The deal will become official Tuesday. The Warriors wind up with a $4 million trade exception for Morrow--nothing more. As a result, the Nets won't have to wait a week for Golden State to decide whether to match a three-year, $12 million offer sheet. Since Morrow had never signed the offer sheet, the two teams were able to negotiate an alternate deal.

http://www.netsdaily.com/2010/7/13/1567557/nets-trade-second-round-pick-not

The Nets formally announced the acquisition of Anthony Morrow on Tuesday, and in order to make the sign-and-trade deal, they had to send their second round draft pick in next year's draft to Golden State. But there's a catch. The pick is protected from 31-55. So the only way the Warriors would get it is if the Nets finish with one of the five best records in the league this coming season.

Man I hope they end up with that pick!

will get the Nets' second-round draft pick in 2011. The pick is protected if it falls between 31 to 55.

So they really just got the trade exception... what's the point of that extra paperwork?

By rule he has to be traded for "something" whether it's a pick or a player. This is just a way to circumvent that rule.

Was there even a trade exception?

Yes. A TPE was created when GSW traded us Morrow for cap space in the amount of his first year salary.

You guys got a steal with morrow that cheap. Protected 2nd rounder? made no difference. D-league all-stars can find another undrafted player or d-leaguer to replace him.

So Warrior fan here, you get the deal. Morrow was purely a shooter in his rookie year. He put up 37 points 11 rebnounds in his first start. First eva for an undraftee.

In the mid-last season, he started to struggle after a family-death. So his shots became little inconsistent. or teams just started to pay more attention to him than his rookie year. He found new ways to score though. He would post up smaller guards and has a nice fade away shot in the post. He drives more often than I expected. Most of the times when he was running the break, it looks like we going to lose the ball but he somehow gets to the rim.

Anyways he get his shots rollling again and improve his lateral movement, you guys would really loved him like most warrior fans.

First post here! Hope I don't get ripped by Enetric lol...

anyway, I think this is a great move by the Nets. When was the last time we had a great pure shooter like Morrow? He won't be a star but if you score 30+ and 20+ multiple times in a season (and you're not filling in for an injured player), you're doing something good. With dribble drive penetration from T-Will and Harris and post up game from Lopez that could command double teams, I see Morrow fitting into our system very well.

^^HAHAHA, good one VC! It's not fear, it's respect. I've seen some guys say some stupid stuff on here only to then read 2 million word reply post from Enetric just ripping them to shreds haha. This is the best Nets discussion board I've seen on the Internet so I figured that I join and share my thoughts. I've been reading this forum for a few years. My thoughts are in line with the mainstays here who actually understand the business as well as the game of professional basketball. Hopefully, I can prove that I actually know some stuff and make good, well respected comments. I've seen those guys who come on the board and make a few foolish posts and then whenever you see them make another comment, your eyes just skip over what new thing they have to say because you already know that whatever it is, it will amount to utter nonsense.

Amazing article, you just can't help but generate nothing but admiration and respect for a person when you read stories like this. I really like our roster, I feel that they can mesh well and have amazing chemistry on and off the court.

Thanks for the read JJ.
