...and on top of that, expiring contracts aren't going to be worth as much with a looming lockout in which case teams won't have to pay next year's salaries. It makes guaranteed immediate cash saving so much more valuable. Hell, if the lockout seems certain around the trade deadline, 2 year deals become almost as valuable as expiring contracts like Murphy's.
The only point I have to agree with Petro45 is the potential for Murphy to make the other prospects look better. It's possible , but he could also take time from Favors that would be valuable.
I was very disappointed that the cap space wasn't used for a better deal, or held on to, knowing how valuable it can be to a struggling franchise.
