Im not worried that its gonna ruin the team, i just dont understand the point of it. And as I mentioned this wouldnt have bothered me if they got some really good players first. They signed crap after crap and now added more crap to the pile. This team won 12 games and were not able to improve this offseason.

Dude, the point is that Joe is a veteran that will a) fill up the roster b) not complain about playing time c) understand his role on the team, which is to be a mentor to the team and especially our young bigs.

Do you understand now? I really would like to know who you would want to occupy that roster spot. I'm actually surprised that Joe chose to play for the Nets other than some other contending or rebuilding team.

I'm sure the Nets came into the meeting and said, we need a player coach to mentor favors...do you want the job?

It's done every year...hell do you think Tony Battie is going to see time on the sixers? Probably not, but he's there as a veteran mentor. It's just what teams do.

You want a mentor? What better mentor for Lopez and Favors that the most dominant big man of the past 30 years?

Is it your period or something, cause you're not making sense AT ALL>

JOE BEAST!!!

I mean... I can dig it. Dude has no trade value but if a Melo or something trade does come along and the Nets move Favors, having an extra big in that scenario is never a bad thing.

I'm down with it too...From the perspective of a veteran helping our young big men like Brook and Favors, its definitely a positive with Joe on the bench...

What are you talking about, have you read anything ive written? I mentioned Crawford as a possibility if we landed Melo first and was wondering everyones opinion. When did I say anything about it being a must to sign him?? Nor did I ever say I hate Joe Smith. Why am I the only one bothered that the Nets didnt sign anyone decent this offseason??

Because you're making it out to be as if the Nets didn't try to sign any of the big free agents. As if Lebron wanted to come here and Prokhorov said no. As if anyone worth the max actually wanted to come here... newsflash, no one did.

Well its good to know everyone is happy that the nets traded away possibly the greatest players in franchise history in order to shed salary and then stink it up for 2-3 years to end up signing farmar, morrow, outlaw, petro and joe smith...... im done with this topic.

...and those who actually thought (not hoped) that they would come here are whining like little girls because reality just smaked them in the face...

why are people hating on this? Vet minimum, great locker room presence and class act type of guy. He's really gonna be able to help out favors and lopez with the mental aspects of the game.

Good signing, Joe Smith has aways been at least decent for the team he plays for. He'll be a good backup to the young'ns...
