Murphy's numbers?

Post#1 » by pj_tor » Sat Sep 18, 2010 7:02 pm

Hi guys, here goes a little question for you, thanks a lot for helping.

I'm playing a keeper fantasy league with my friends and have the option to keep Troy Murphy. My other choices are Durant-Granger-Evans (definitely keepers) and Martin-Gay, being only able to keep 5 of them (9 category h2h).

How do you think Troy's numbers will translate to NJ? Will he shoot the three? What about usage?

Number prediction would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I think Murphy is an ideal big for vagina coaches like JOB and Nelson.

He won't be as good of a fantasy option in New Jersey and Derrick Favors is the type of big Avery loves. Billy King just said that Favors has made incredible progress since SL and he will only get better between now and regular season opener.

I expect less minutes and less three attempts from Troy.

11 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists 1 steal, half a block and between 0.5 and 0.9 threes made (two attempts per game) per game in 27 minutes.

What do you expect from Favors?

Not much, personally. Avery has hinted that he may start Favors from day one, but the PF situation may abe a timeshare similar to PHX's C situation. Derrick, similar to Robin Lopez, would start for a strong defensive presence, while Troy (Frye) would have the green light off the bench, and in many cases would play more minutes.

IMO, a reasonable ceiling for D-Fav is 9/7/1/1/2 in 24mpg, unless our PF situation changes...

I can see Murphy averaging like 10pts 8 rebounds. He'll probably shoot a high percentage though..something like 52%. I dont think he's gonna average more than 12 points playing alongside Brook and with Favors backing him up. we need him to rebound more than anything. Harris, Lopez, Outlaw, and maybe even Morrow will do most of the scoring

It really all depends on if he starts or not. If he starts I expect about 14pts/7rebounds/3assists.

Derrick Favors' success is going to have a huge impact on Murphy's numbers. Either way, he is going to be the third option on offense at best. If Favors starts to eat away at Murphy's minutes, it will be for two reasons: he is as dominant on defense as we're all hoping him to be and he improves significantly on offense. I expect Favors and Murphy to split minutes almost exactly in half, with Murphy averaging approximately 12/8/1.5 threes and Favors averaging 8/7/1.5 blocks. Per the OP question, more specifically, I expect 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, .5 steals, .5 blocks, and 1 TO, with percentages of around 50% FG, 40% 3 point, 80% FT.
