At Blake's peak, I believe he could be a Karl Malone deluxe, capable of 29/12/3/1/1. He will always be one of the most lethal frontcourt scorers in the game, and his physical attributes (wingspan, standing reach, hand size etc.) will prevent him from becoming any more than an average defender. Of ocurse he has to stay healthy, which dating back to his HS days is no guarantee...

Favors IMO will be a Howard/Stoudemire hybrid. He won't be THE premier defensive force in the league like Duhwight, but I think he'll be on some All-Defense teams. And while he may never blossom into as versatile an offensive force as Amar'e, he continues to assimilate new skills and moves into his repertoire at an impressive rate. I see career years looking like 23/13/2/2/2.

In short, these are two EXTREMELY promising young bigmen. Who knows who will become better for sure, but in my biased opinion, I prefer the one we have.

P.S. Any votes for DeMarcus "DC2" Cousins?

Favors will have a complete game. Offense and defense. He'll be a force on both sides.

Griffin will be a beast on the boards and get his points, but his defense will always be mediocre. I doubt he'll ever make it to the playoffs if he stays with the Clippers. His measurements will limit him in certain areas while the sky is the limit for Derrick.

Give me Derrick, any day of the week and twice on sunday.

I think we all know I was never very high on Flake Griffin. But allowing my normal self to speak rather than the hater inside me, I think these are two completely different players. Griffin is the superior athlete and uses all his strength to his advantage fighting for rebounds and dunking over other players. Favors has the frame to be the superior rebounder/shot blocker and can male a living off of put back dunks. If Favors can develop a killer instinct and gain a good 25 pounds of muscle in the next 5 to 6 years I think hell be the better player. But the way things look now I see Griffin as the better player due to his athleticism and attitude. I was disappointed when Cousins said he wanted to go after the Nets throats for taking Favors and wanted to make it personal, Favors just responded with something like I dont worry about that its just a game Im gonna do what coach tells me. Really? I mean I know hes only 19 and a rookie but man up, I would have been like "Bring it fatty!"

^^^ I think it speaks volumes that Favors didn't say anything and just did work on the court and helped the Nets win that game. Cousins started off well but than got into foul trouble, got frustrated, and then forced bad shots.

Griffin has already had a serious injury and is 2 years older then favors. Favors can become elite in all aspects of the game were griffin will always be a mediocre defender.
p.s i watched both favors and griffins dunk contest clips in the mcdonalds all american game and was way more impressed by the difficultyof d.favors jams.

Rivalries make players that much better, look at the 80s and 90s. The best games to watch were those that had some bitterness between teams. Bulls vs Knicks, Celtics vs Lakers, Pistons vs pretty much everyone. I would love to see Favors vs Cousins go at it aggressively for the next decade or so.

Yeah hes injury prone since high school, but any guess for a players future is speculation based on how good you think they can be. And dunk contests dont mean anything, do you think Nate Robinson is a better player than Dwight Howard????

I'd take Griffin over Favors now and in the future, the only reason I have to stop and pause is because of Griffin's play-style and injury concerns.

I know it's only been 6 games and he's on the Clippers but... Griffin is posting 19 and 10 right now and he's also only 21 years old.

Blake Griffin has already shown flashes of being flat out unstoppable around the rim. I like Favors and think he'll be good but the same can't be said for him at this point in time.

How Favors defensive game grows will really make or break him as a good, great, or elite prospect/player.

Favors was 3 for 3 tonight, yet only played 17 minutes? I'd like to see Favors get 24-26 minutes on average this year.

If Favors was getting 30 min a night he might be around 15 and 10 too. Yeah he would have his 2-10 nights but he will always show up on the glass and on D. I think he has a really nice touch around the rim and his offensive game is much better then any of us could have expected.

I want to see 19/12/3 from Sexual when he hits his prime with top notch D. Might never be the scorer Griffin is but hopefully is better at everything else.

Could Favors ultimately grow into a center?
