I'm doing a design project on the Nets new team name...

Post#1 » by Master Amino » Tue Jan 11, 2011 2:39 pm

...and obviously the new name hasn't even been announced yet. So as a result, I have to come up with a name and then go from there.

Has anyone here heard of any HINTS of what it could be? Or any bright ideas on a possible good name? Maybe something that relates to Brooklyn?

PS - As a side question....is there a search function on this site? Not to be a newb, but on most forums I post at there's a search option in the upper right half of the site. If this topic has already been discussed (which I'm sure it has....), could someone please direct me to the thread?

How about the Brooklyn Brawlers?? Mascot could be Mike Tyson.. He's bite the ears off all the other team mascots!
We have to do the impossible, but it is possible.

How bout the name stays the Nets?!

Not feeling Proky and his big European conqueror bravado. I want to punch him in the face.

Well, as for your question about hints of a new name, the only one that has come up so far is the....ew....New Yorkers.

Brooklyn Ballers. Establish yourself as the "hip urban" alternative to the glitzy Knicks.

(i know, "hip urban" alternative sounds (Please Use More Appropriate Word) when you put it that way, but (Please Use More Appropriate Word) branding stuff works in America. Works well).

I don't mean to come off as a dick, but I have a feeling you're at least in your 50's.

You might as well have said "young whippersnappers". :)

They are changing the name to CSKA Brooklyn. Not sure what it means but they have sports clubs that start with CSKA in Russia.

Ok just looked it up, means Central Sports Club of Army.

Where are you getting this info from?

Not buying this at all and there's no way Stern and the other owners are going to allow that.

If anything, it's probably just the way they will be known and marketed in Russia.

I an calm buddy.

I was just asking you where you heard this.

And it's pretty hard to realize it was a joke when you edited your post when you found out what CKSA meant.

Besides, I like to joke around to, but this is a very touchy subject for me and other long time Nets fans.
