OT: Newark Traffic

Post#1 » by Sloanfeld » Sun Jan 16, 2011 9:25 pm

Hey Nets fans. I'm going to the Jazz/Nets game on Wedneday night and I'm just curious about a few things. Does traffic get congested in/around Newark around 5:30-6:30 PM? (I'm coming from PA, I-80E.) I've been there twice to Newark Penn Station and never had any problems but it got really congested going to East Rutherford at around 4-5 PM last year. The reason I ask is because I plan to work that day and leave right after and with no traffic jams I should probably get there around 6:35. I would leave early, but I want to work overtime.

Also, do the Park Fasts raise their rates when there is a Nets game at the Prudential Center? When I look at the rates online, it gives an after 4 PM, non-event rate. Does the Newark Penn garage change their rates too? Thanks in advance.

I don't know about the Park Fasts as I usually take the train, but if you plan on getting there by 6:35, I'd say you'll be there for 7. Its congested getting into the Newark, but its not as bad once you're in.

Don't park in the closest parking lot.Park at least one block over or you'll be waiting on a long line in the cold to get your car back when the game is over.

yes, that would be rush hour, you're going to hit traffic...might get lucky on 80/280, but from there, it should take 20-30min depending on how congested it is...

Yes, the traffic is awful. The arena is too close to the center of Newark. I would figure at least 30 mins for traffic.
