Avery So Far...with No Distractions

Post#1 » by NyCeEvO » Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:54 pm

Ok, so I must admit that I haven't been as down on Avery as most of the board has. In the first poll that I made, it started off with Avery getting mostly pretty good ratings but as the season progressed the ratings turned south. The longer the Melo drama played out, the worse we played. Now, on the evening that it came to end, we went up by double digits on the Jazz and withstood their usual 4th quarter comeback for another impressive win by Proky. Now, correlation does not necessarily entail causation so now I think it's time to evaluate Avery without the distractions of any major trade. Maybe the Melo situation affected Avery's coaching style in the same way it affected the players morale and playing style. Anyway, let's vote again from here on out and see how the Little General does.

I don't think the trade talks distracted Avery. He's not the one on the court playing basketball games. I think the PLAYERS where more distracted and he showed in their play. Maybe Avery has a hard time getting these guys to focus on the task as hand but when your dealing with a young team an these trade rumor floating out there I'm pretty sure that has an effect on the PLAYERS. So your right you Nets fan need to get off Avery's back and judge him and the team without the distraction for Melo over their head.

I think he's an OK coach but he's well-known for being tough on rookies. Look at some video clips of how he was treating Devin Harris when he was a rookie. It wasn't pretty.
