Personally i love Nenes game and i think he would be a perfect fit on this team. He didnt sign an extension with the Nuggets so hes an unrestricted free agent. I love Humphries and would love for the Nets to resign him but i just dont think hes worth what everybody thinks hes going to ask for ( 6-7 mil for 4 to 5 yrs). id much rather break the bank For Nene. hes opting out of his last year worth 13 mil so hes definitely looking for a big contract and i think we should give it to him.
Nene and Brook Lopez would be one hell of a big man duo right behind Pau and Bynum. Both can play D and both are great offensively in the paint and at hitting a the J and they would prevent either one from getting doubled team every time they get the ball. Nene is the ultimate team player who doesnt put his success ahead of the teams and never takes a bad shot which is obvious when you look at his stats.
i love this lineup for next year
D will
Brooks/ morrow
D James/ Outlaw
Nene
Brook
thats good enough for a 50 win season IMO
Nene is 28 years old. lets say 5 years 15 mil per gets it done. he would be out at 33 years old and thats still a pretty good age especially for a guy like Nene since his game doesnt revolve around his athleticism. i know some of us want to keep our cap space to get D 12 but Nene is an asset we could use him in a trade for Dwight or he could be the best big man dwight has ever played with if we can make a trade for dwight involving brook and anybody but d will and nene. Nene, D 12, Dwill pretty good trio IMO again.

Out of all the unrestricted FA...............
......Nene is my number 1 choice. He has high trade value. That's if we're are going to spend the money.

Group I: Unrestricted Free Agents
Chandler
1. Tyson Chandler, Mavericks
Chandler is hitting free agency at exactly the right time. After 10 years in the league, he's finally injury-free and has become the sort of defensive force that the Bulls thought he could be when he was drafted out of high school in 2001. He was the key piece of the puzzle for Dallas' championship run. And he's in a weak free-agent market devoid of big men who can make a difference.
Chandler should be in for a big payday from someone. Obviously the Mavs are the heavy favorites to retain his services, but a few other teams such as the Nuggets, Nets and Pacers could also be in the mix.
2. Nene, Nuggets
Nene exercised his early termination option on Thursday. He had spent months trying to negotiate a new contract extension with the Nuggets, but the two sides didn't see eye to eye on the length of a new deal. Nene will give up a guaranteed $11.6 million in order to get out of the deal. It's a gamble, sure. But when he's healthy, he remains one of the most unique big men in the league. He's quick and physical, and he can be a handful in the paint when he wants to be.
If the Nuggets won't come through with a new deal, other teams, including the Nets and Pacers, may be willing to give him even more on the open market, even with the CBA likely lowering the max for top players.
West
3. David West, Hornets
The Hornets' power forward has shined next to Chris Paul. But injuries, age (he turns 31 in August) and a future that may not have CP3 setting him up every night should keep West's contract demands in line. The Hornets, Nets and Pacers will all make a run for his services.
4. Carl Landry, Hornets
Landry may not be a household name, but he's a very efficient power forward who has produced most of his career. He struggled with the Kings last season but was pretty solid filling in for the injured David West in New Orleans after being traded there at the deadline.
He's been underpaid for most of his career, but that should change in a big way when signings resume. He's the 2011 version of Paul Millsap.
Dalembert
5. Samuel Dalembert, Kings
Slammin' Sammy may not be an All-Star, but the big man can still rebound and defend, so there's been a lot of interest in him, demonstrating the premium on size and shot-blocking.
Dalembert turns 30 this summer, but he's still likely to get a number of offers in the offseason. The Kings would like him back, but virtually every team in the league with money could use his shot-blocking skills.
6. Tayshaun Prince, Pistons
Injuries have slowed the 31-year-old small forward at times, but when Prince is healthy he's a lock-down perimeter defender who can hit open shots.
With the Pistons in rebuilding mode, it's very likely he'll bolt when he gets the chance.
Richardson
7. Jason Richardson, Magic
His numbers no longer pop out at you, especially since the Suns traded him to Orlando, but Richardson continues to play well. He is a big threat from behind the arc and still has some bounce in those 30-year-old legs.
The Magic have incurred a massive payroll, and a mandate from Dwight Howard to shake things up, so it's unlikely the Magic will be willing to pay Richardson to stay around.
8. Jamal Crawford, Hawks
Crawford is the reigning sixth man, but it's hard to see his relationship with the Hawks lasting much longer. With the large contracts of Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Marvin Williams and Al Horford now on the Hawks' books, it's doubtful they'll bring back Crawford, too.
Butler
9. Caron Butler, Mavs
Butler ruptured his right patellar tendon in January and missed the rest of the season in rehab. The timing couldn't have been much worse for his free agency. He had already seen his numbers decline since his All-Star days, and now coming off a knee injury at 31, he's going to have to slash his asking price. Still, if he can return to health, he still has a few years left as a scorer.
10. Shane Battier, Grizzlies
Battier got a homecoming of sorts when the Grizzlies traded back for him at the February deadline. Battier's first stint in Memphis didn't go so well, but his team fared much better this time around, including an impressive playoff run.
The question is, will Battier be around for the long haul? Rudy Gay will be healthy and back in the lineup, and if the Grizzlies pay Marc Gasol in free agency, where will the money come from to keep Battier, too?
......Nene is my number 1 choice. He has high trade value. That's if we're are going to spend the money.

Re: Signing Nene
You'll have competition spending wise from the pacers, who are also looking for a starting PF, and Larry Bird was after nene a few years ago, same with George hill, who we just acquired. Both teams would be pretty good with nene imo, but does prok wanna give up his chance to sign a big sexy 2012 FA like Dwight for nene? I'd imagine he is looking to sign one of the real blue chip players, luring them in with Dwill and the New York Brooklyn appeal right?

Just not sure where King will go with this.
I feel like our FO has to know more about future dealings then they would ever be allowed to admit, so if we sign Nene I hope it's not just short sighted Billy King style and more of something else.
One thing that others have mentioned which is a valid point, is Nene is an immediately big time trade chip as soon as signed as long as his salary isn't absurd.
Even if overpaid, which he is almost guaranteed to be if he switches teams, he's still got a ton of value as long as he isn't inked to some awful max or even Boozer type contract.
So I maintain the same stance as I had since the D Will deal went down, he's a good signing as long as the numbers are workable and not eye rolling.
One of the only FA's out there you can say that for.
I put Tyson Chandler above him as a player and signing if you're planning on keeping him, especially so if we keep Brook, but Nene has better long term value and even immediate short term value.

Re: Signing Nene
To run with this one, here's an intriguing question...
Which is the better package for Dwight?
Bynum signed for two more, with the 2nd a team option, both years big money, but both with immense short and long term injury concerns and Gasol at 32 with his monstrous contract and recent playoff blowup?
Or...
Brook at 23 emerging as a top big man with one last year of rookie scale salary and then a much more cap friendly extension and Nene likely inked for around 11 to 12 a year?
Yeah...
Bring on Nene, he's the best of both worlds for us.

Re: Signing Nene
Of course, which is the sad reality.
Although, we are one of the teams that honestly benefits the most if it happens for the whole season.

Re: Signing Nene
According to Stefan Bondy's tweet earlier today,
Unless Nene wants a ton of money and Hump doesn't, we could be making a big mistake.
Contrary to report, Kris Humphries remains Nets No. 1 target at power forward, according to league source, not Nene.
