Interesting off season scenario

Post#1 » by BrooklynNetsFan » Fri Dec 23, 2011 9:51 pm

I don't know if this has been brought up but I haven't heard many people speaking about it...The Nets can sign Dwight in the summer since they will have around $20 million plus in cap space, without losing Lopez in the process. You can play them together as a twin towers duo or flip the 7 footer with the expiring contract to fill out the roster.

While I can see them playing together, and complementary to boot, but...I think I'd trade him for the best wing you can get, assuming that wing is good enough to use Lopez in a trade. The reason for this is because, while offensively they can work, defensively you would be taking the strength of Dwight Howard and minimizing it. Howard can effectively cover whatever big man he wants to cover, but he's best closest to the paint, meaning Lopez would have to cover the pf/mobile center, which does not play to his strength, either.
