How do you know he has no X and O ability?

That's a silly statement with no real proof.

A lot of coaches get a break with no coaching experience.

And why can he only relate to younger and lower level guys?

You maybe a touch too young to remember, but Mark Jackson was a stud point guard.

As for things working out in G State, IDK, but he doesn't have much of a squad in all reality.

Such as? I don't think I've ever seen or read about another individual who became a head coach in the NBA having had no prior coaching experience at any level.

His personality grates on the nerves and he has no recent body of work to fall back on when people question his decision making.

He was a good point guard who I didn't get to see a whole lot of, but having been a good player doesn't automatically make you a good coach.

Some of the greatest coaches of all time were borderline scrubs / never played in the NBA.

I would have been all for hiring Jackson as an assistant and then grooming him to be a head coach but coaching and playing are two different animals.

I guess my question is why in the world did you want Mark Jackson? Just like you felt Frank was a better option than Avery I felt Frank was a better option than Jackson

You've never seen another coach in NBA get offered a job without any previous coaching experience? Let's look ONLY at guys who have worked over the last ten years.

Lenny Wilkens & Don Nelson both started as Player-Coaches
Doc Rivers
Isiah Thomas
Dan Issel
Dave Cowens
Vinny Del Negro
Kevin McHale
Kiki Vandeweghe
Kevin Pritchard

Hell you can lump Scott Skiles in there. His entire coaching resume was working as an assistant for 20 games

This doesn't even take into consideration my all time fav coach without experience. The horrible Magic Johnson in 93/94
