Nets fans' thoughts on Morrow

Post#1 » by Nuck Chorris » Fri Feb 17, 2012 3:04 am

Hello. Warriors fan here.

I'm a long time fan of Anthony Morrow from when he first joined the W's.

My assessment of Morrow is that he is both a sharpshooter and has great finesse with the ball (both at distance and around the rim). His athleticism is understated because he is not the best at defending the perimeter, but at times he can both rebound and defend against less athletic SF's. Given an open lane and a clear first step Morrow can finish in a variety of ways, but he has a lot of trouble dribbling through traffic (good vertical leap, but with slow feet).

I generally check his box score, and miss getting to watch his progression.

I noticed recently that he has fallen out of the starting rotation. While I think Morrow is only a fringe starter at this point (or on that roster) I do believe that he is the ideal backup for a variety of teams around the league.

So I am wondering:

Is Morrow available?

Are the Nets just experimenting with different lineups?

What do Nets fans think of Morrow?

I guess I'm just checking in because I don't get to see him play anymore.

Oh, and I'm upset the W's didn't get Ellison as an owner because the Prokhorov is badass. Sorry your team is moving, but our will be moving too. Lacob is Cohan 2.0. I'm jealous.
Just another fan of a team in perpetual limbo.

The only thing Morrow can do is hit a 3 point shot. He will be valuable if we're able to obtain Howard.

Morrow's main problem is he can't run, he can't jump, he can't defend, he can't dribble and struggles at catching the basketball. Apart from that he's ok, so really he's in the wrong profession.

About his availability, he was supposed to have been offered straight up for OJ Mayo but nothing came of it.

I think all of us here rate him as one of the best shooters in the league and a piece who would thrive next to a post presence like Dwight Howard (or even Lopez, Brooks, and Deron). He has a good work ethic and has tried to add to his game during the off seasons but he has serious limitations. Not athletic at all (although a decent rebounder considering), and a very poor ball handler for a guard. Every time he puts the ball on the floor, I hold my breath  He's also one of the worst defenders in the league at his position due to lack of athleticism and poor fundamentals.

Ideally, I see him as a sixth man type of player, providing instant offense and nothing more. He's the type of player whose value increases a lot on a good team, where he can get a lot of open looks. He's one of the most reliable shooters in the league when it comes to taking a wide open 3 pt shot.

What he gets paid for he does well, can't say that for ANYONE else on this team. He's available for sure, I think he's a good player for any team, but the Nets decide to keep flip flopping his role, which effects his play.

He is elite at what he does well (shoot), and is very clutch when we actually get a chance to play close games.

At times we ask him to do too much because of our lack of talent and our injuries, but when he's just playing his game he is absolute money and we love him.

Please get Anthony Morrow off this team

This dude is pissing me off sure he had a great 4th quarter last night but ever since the Minnesota game he has been complete ****. This guy is suppose to be one of the best 3 point shooters in the league but continues to brick every open shot he has. When his shot isnt down he is basically useless

Morrow can be incredibly frustrating, but let's be real, he's a guy who should come off the bench for around 20 minutes a game on a team with either a super fast paced offense or a dominating low post threat and be allowed to gun away from downtown.

He's a very limited player, but there's no reason to trade him just to trade him.

He won't be in a position next year to have such a big impact on losses, only wins.

But yeah, his defense is awful, he can't dribble more then once in a straight line to save his life and he makes some really dumb decisions.

We shouldn't be so dependent on a player like him though and next year we won't be.

Exactly.

Hit three pointers and sink in FT's late in games are things he's excellent at. He's the perfect role player. One that should be extremely valuable for us next season.
