So who would you guys target in the 2013 free agency, its looking like a monster free agency period with Iggy, Smith, Howard, CP3 etc all being in it. Some brilliant talent to add to the team.

I was thinking about possible longer term plans and what we could do, this summer its obviously all about keeping D Will and if we manage that I think were sitting pretty.

We will resign Lopez so in this situation we'd have our PG & C locked up long term, with a decent rookie at SG. So its the SF & PF positions we need to get better at if we're really going to push on to the next level.

The team i'd target for the summer of 2012 and to open the Barclays centre would be:

D Will
Brooks
Wallace
Hump
Lopez

Those are the guys I'd look to sign (just get Wallace to opt in) resign Williams and Lopez. Talk to Hump and if you can get a good cap friendly deal you lock him up because he would be an asset. If he is asking to much money id move on because its all about having smart contracts in the NBA now to be able to make moves when they arise.

Id go hard for KG on a decent 1 year deal to come join Brooklyn, he would start with Hump coming off the bench. KG would be an amazing signing and really add strength to the team. But more importantly its the flexability his 1 year deal would add also for the real prize's next summer.

With Wallace's contract running out along with Petro, Morrow & Farmar that would be nearly $20million off our salary gone. We could make real run's at adding two players like iggy and Smith to add to our roster with Williams & Lopez. This all is obviously dependant on Williams resigning with us but we can be major major players next summer to bring in some serious talent and like it said it could be possible to bring in 2 very good players to really make us a very good team.

Our salary flexability is great going forward, D Will could basically decide who we sign to make our team his own. As I said, the only issue, which is a massive issue is getting Williams to sign on again then we can really go to town and make some big moves in the future.

Worst case scenario we will suck so bad next season but again, so long as King doesnt go nuts and sign long term average players if Williams was to leave we could make a run at CP3.

I just wanted to say its not the end of the world and at least we dont have monster crap contracts.

Go rip me apart

There is no summer of 2013 if Deron stays. The roster will be filled out this summer with contracts that will not allow the team to have any cap space the next summer, with their respective escalators.

Brook and Deron alone will be worth around 30 million in 2013. Whatever players you want, you're going to have to be able to afford via the MLE or can get through trade.

After thinking about it, I don't think that the Wallace trade is as crippling as I once thought, simply because if we play hard down the stretch of the season, and we win enough games (very possible), we won't end up with that crappy of a record, and we'll only give up a late lottery pick. Yeah, that's still bad, and that would still be a good player in this draft, but I don't think we'd be giving up a franchise player at that point.

Then we'd be able to keep all of our future picks, and even if Deron leaves, we'd be able to rebuild with those. I think we'll still be fine, but there's a good chance that at least our first couple of seasons in Brooklyn are going to be really tough.

I still don't think people are thinking it through entirely.

If the Nets keep their pick this year, and the Rockets do not make the playoffs, the only pick the Nets will have to trade between the day after this year's draft and next year's deadline is the Rockets pick and the next available pick of the Nets, which could be in 2015. Meaning...the trade possibilities are also limited to Brook, Marshon, the Rockets pick, the next available pick, and whoever it is the Nets draft 1-3 this year.

It was an awful, horrendous trade on so many levels.

Right, which means we need to hope the Rockets make the playoffs, and the Nets win as many games as possible down the stretch of this year. Give them a late lottery pick and keep Houston's non-lottery pick, and keep all of our future picks.

I'm not defending the trade, just trying to think about damage control, how to make it so that it doesn't kill us.

I'd love to make a big offer for Eric Gordon. Watching the Magic game tonight just made me realise Brooks just isnt NBA starter quality and i think we should sell high in regards Brooks at draft time.

But could we make a big front loaded deal to bring in Eric Gordon as a RFA while keeping Lopez & Williams?

I wouldnt mind letting Hump walk if it meant we could bring in a player of Gordon's caliber. Is there a way we could use Proky's millions to make a crazy big front loaded offer that NOH wouldnt match?

Build a team around Williams, Gordon & Lopez in Brooklyn, with the likes of Green as SF and a vet in like KG (ideal world) or someone to hold the fort.

Im totally unclear on how restricted free agency works in regards salary and max's etc, I know the team holding his rights can match but other than that not much. So is it possible? what could we offer? a silly move?

i feel like plan b really needs to start being looked at as no D will and no lottery pick. realistically, the nets have no chance at a title until the thunder and the heat are broken up
