Just wanted to let you know my story from the Final Night.
I was in the Edison Ale House prior to the game to meet up with my friends. I had my Drazen jersey on and a handful of people came up to me pumped to see it (granted I saw a ton of them, but I felt special).
At one point, this guy came up to me and tapped me on the shoulder. As soon as he started talking, I realized he was foreign. He basically told me he was very good friends with Drazen back in Croatia. He had flown in with Drazen's mother and had never been to the United States before. In a nutshell, all he wanted to do was shake my hand and thank me for honoring one of his close friends. He said he was going to go back to Croatia and tell everyone that Drazen's memory isn't forgotten in the states either.
I actually had a tear in my eye after I thought about the moment that just happened to me. Moments like this bother me when people say sports are pointless and everyone is overpaid. That argument is like beating a dead horse but after a moment like that, where a man I don't know and will never see again comes up to me just to say thank you for honoring a friend, you can't tell me that sports are meaningless. Through all the joy and heartbreak, sports brings people together. I have an emotional attachment to my teams that, although I can't explain, you can't take from me either. It's mine and my moments and my time I invest in it. My Nets colors don't run. Not in Jersey. Not in Brooklyn.
Just thought I'd share that with you all.

^^Awesome story. I have the same feelings about the teams I support as well, especially the Nets.
