Listening to VC on this forum is like Nets players listening to Kiki coach during a game.

With this latest injury discovery, I'm fully on the "Let's swap for another injured player (Eric Gordon) bandwagon"

Re: Brook Lopez return date
Do you guys think we should shut Lopez down for the rest of the regular season or bring him back for the last few games to showcase his talents if we want to trade him?
I'm torn because he needs to play to show that he's not injury-prone so that other teams will want him, at the same time, if he re-injures himself again, his trade value goes to zero.

He has to be shut down for his own health & to not do further damage. It helps our tank & will keep his offers to a minimum which could be huge for us going into Brooklyn.
A fit Lopez is a very good centre & with a well priced contract long term,it would make him a prized asset no doubt next season.

Re: Brook Lopez return date
The aggressiveness that Hibbert has been playing with on defense is similar to what we saw out of Lopez during the preseason.
The only problem is that 1) that was the preseason 2) he stopped being aggressive when he came back (although it he was only available for a few games).
If we can know that Lopez would start playing like he did in the preseason, the allure of trading for D12 wouldn't be so high, especially if we get PEB. And even if we did get PEB, that doesn't excuse Lopez from playing defense. I still want him to improve significantly.

I don't really get the HIbbert hype to be honest... He's a good center but look who's covering him / look at his regular season stats... This guy isn't a franchise level center... And with all the questions surrounding his mental toughness...
I'd rather have Lopez in the middle.

Literally, your only defense for not wanting Hibbert is the fact that he's not a franchise level center. Neither is Lopez. So...that invalidates just about everything you just said.
Good day, sir.

Re: Brook Lopez return date
Healthy Lopez is plain better the Hibbert, I'm sorry.
Hibbert has certainly improved significantly, but he's gone from a bucket of suck, to decent, to average to now just good.
He's not a great player, although he is important.
I do like his attitude and the fact he actually has improved pretty much every year, but he's a complete plodder who's defense is definitely good but not much more, all the talks I see from Indiana fans gets me a little aggravated. They're calling him a fantastic player, an elite top of the league defender, etc. Just a lot of hyperbolic adjectives that they are very serious about in the literal sense of those words.
He clogs the paint and blocks shots very well, but he's not really any type of great overall defender, he's not even necessarily the anchor he's being made out to be without the great and athletic wing defenders they have to keep guys out of the paint and funnel them properly without getting him in unnecessary foul trouble. Bottom line is he's a great shotblocker playing for a great defensive coach with great perimeter defenders who have all bought into the system and execute it to a very high level.
Hell he may keep improving and become a top center in the league and he's firmly cemented himself in say the top 7 or 8, I just think people are getting a touch carried away.
When healthy I feel the following are currently and definitely better:
Howard
Bynum
Duncan
Pau
Bogut
Chandler
Lopez
If we're considering Garnett a center, which we should, he slides in there right ahead or behind Duncan as well.
