Question for Nets fans

Post#1 » by Strange Clouds » Mon Aug 13, 2012 12:14 pm

Do you think some of the younger NJ residents will become nets fans? Have the 76ers gained any fans from the move to Brooklyn? Just curious because I know a lot of supersonic fans started following the Jazz or Blazers ect.

Everybody in South Jersey was already a Sixers fan. Nobody in New Jersey likes the Nets. Including younger fans.

So no were probably not going to lose any fans in NJ.

Yes, most people in South Jersey are Sixers fans, but "nobody in New Jersey likes the Nets" is not true.

While New Jersey isn't a basketball state and most likely never will become one, there were plenty of casual Nets fans in NJ, including some younger fans.

Also, we lost one member from this board because he was die hard Nets fan from Jersey, but he hates anything and everything New York, so he decided to switch to the Sixers. I don't know if he posts regularly on the Sixers board, but he was adamant that he could no longer be a Nets fan because of the move.

Obviously I did not literally mean that nobody in NJ is a Nets fan, but most basketball fans are not.

There are more Knicks, Lakers, and Heat fans.
We saw evidence of that at Prudential Center last year when opposing teams took over our stadium.

Thank God we left that state...

its completely geographical. north jersey fans will be knicks or nets fans. even without a team in NJ, the coverage in that area is purely NY sports.

likewise, in south jersey, it will be philly fans. as is, south jersey gets phillies/egales/76ers coverage

Younger fans? As in kids? Heat fans. A LARGE number.

The 76'ers haven't gained any fans from the Nets move to Brooklyn. Like others have pointed out though a good majority of southern NJ residents have always supported Pennsylvanian sports teams.

@NyCeEvO:
New Jersey isn't basketball state from a professional or college sports team (popularity) standpoint but from a development / grassroots point of view it's one of the better states at developing young talent and getting them into college / pro programs.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
