You don't think he was a deal breaker in the original Dwight deal? That Orlando wanted him going to a 5th team to more assets?

He expires in 2 years just like Hump, they have no motivation to trade him. Love still has 3 seasons left on his deal if were to opt out.

I wasn't saying that's very realistic. I think Gasol poses more matchup problems than Horford does but that doesn't matter.

Either way, I guess we see that it's incredibly difficult for us to become contenders under the way we're currently setup. :(

2a) Either S&T Dwight Howard for Varejao/Chandler/Brooks/1sts (something we cannot do unless we are under the apron), or
2b) Trade Varejao/Chandler/1sts for Al Horford

3a) Bring over Eurostash Bogdanovic

4) Sign ringchasers (Kirilenko can get the whole MLE, since we got under the apron)

Williams, Johnson, [Kirilenko], Lopez, Howard
Watson, Bogdanovic, Shengelia, Teletovic, Evans

OR

Williams, Johnson, [Kirilenko] Horford, Lopez
Watson, Brooks, Shengelia, Teletovic, Evans

I'm stupid but what are the deals here because I have no clue where Chandler or Varejao are coming from here. Could you post your ideas trade wise broken down because it doesn't make sense to me atm.

Cheers

I don't think it does. I mean currently it does because we can't see any deal that makes sense but all it takes is a star that wants Brooklyn badly after being wooed by D Will to demand a trade to us.

What I mean is we just don't know what'll happen in the next few years. I believe outside of J Smith or Boozer trade there isn't really any good options for us right now but next summer is when we can start offering a good package. Hopefully with Brooks performing well along with Bogdanovic when he gets over next summer and Shengelia showing something.

All of a sudden we'd have a huge expiring in Hump with multi young assets (pray they perform well so they become assets) to trade along with picks we own. Until that point we only have trash to offer apart from taking on a monster deal.

Pray for Kevin Love to want Brooklyn, Dark Lord Stern and the basketball gods to pick Brooklyn as their Lakers East who rip everyone off, Golden State to fail and blow it up sending us Bogut for nothing, Bogut staying healthy and the pastiest front court since the 50's to be championship capable.

Deron
JJ
Wallace
Love
Bogut

Aww yeah.

We hope the Mavs blow, get ravaged by injuries to everyone but Dirk and the team follows through on his private trade request to the Nets.

No sweat. The trade I linked looks like this:

NETS: Wallace/Humphries for Varejao/Chandler

CAVS: Varejao/Sloan for Wallace/Koufos

NUGGETS: Chandler/Koufos for Humphries/Sloan

This would trim $7mil in payroll, taking us down to $75mil this year. As I mentioned previously, this is just barely under the luxury tax apron, which would allow us to:

1) receive FAs via sign-and-trade deals; and
2) use the full MLE next summer

Not to mention, I think that Chandler and Varejao would fit our lineup a bit better for a postseason run.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

The Joe Johnson trade is what's killing our flexibility, and since we didn't end up getting Dwight, trading for Joe Johnson was really dumb. But I can't even get mad about it, because based on everything I've read and heard, trading for him is what convinced Deron to re-sign. And I'd rather take the team we have now opening up Brooklyn, than the team we would have had if we didn't trade for Joe Johnson and Deron didn't re-sign...even in a long term sense.

I little help from Jimmy Buffett should sum it all up....

I don't know the reason
I stayed here all off-season
Nothin to show but JJ's stank ass contract
It's a real beauty
A can killing doody
How it got here I haven't a clue

Chorus:
Wastin away again in mediocre-ville
Searching for my lost picks and cap space
Some people claim that Dwight Howard's to blame
But I know....

it's Billy King's damn fault
