Shut D-Will down for 1 week.

Post#1 » by JKiddy » Sun Dec 2, 2012 10:30 pm

I went to the Heat game. Deron looks like he's a shell of himself. He can't shoot free throws or FGs. He can't shoot 2s or 3s unless its a layup. I say we rest him for 7-10 days. This will allow him to heal, give our bench some PT that they will need later on (the Rook and CJ). Does anyone agree with me?

I say we do this after the Thunder game if Deron does not look close to 90 percent. If he's playing at less than 90 percent we should rest him until hes close to 100 so that he can shoot well before New Years.

I agree with this. He very clearly can't hit a jumper on a consistent basis right now, and as a result, he's almost getting the Rondo treatment, where teams go under screens and take away his passing angles and are daring him to shoot. A healthy Deron would destroy teams if they did that, but he's becoming more and more passive because he knows that he can't shoot right now.

I don't think he'll be perfectly healthy if we sit him for a week, but instead of 60-70%, he'll probably be back to 90%.

But btw, he's at 84% from the line on the season, and he was well above his career average earlier, close to 90% at one point. I think him missing FTs lately is just him normalizing back to what he typically shoots.

I agree also, the guy is banged up. I don't know how long he needs but he needs some time to rest. We don't need it snowballin into something worse.

I agree with this also but it should be done after the Knick game when we play Toronto and Detroit which is next week.

Lopez needs to be back during that stretch as well. Can't rest Deron if Joe is struggling and Lopez is out.

yeah it's still early and we'll make the playoffs, let him get healthy

Isn't their talk about Taylor going to the D-League? If that's true then this doesn't seem to be in their plans.

Too early to do this unless he's absolutely shot.

Give it til we're like 30 games in and we have a lengthy stretch of soft games and Brook is back and then sit him for a week or even 2.

It's not injuries according to him.

They're 11-5, off to the franchise's best start ever, better than the two seasons where they finished the season in the Finals. They're ahead of schedule and although they've lost two to the Heat, they've beat the Celtics twice as well as the Clippers and the Knicks. So what's the problem? Ask Deron Williams. He'll tell you. It's him, more specifically his shooting.

Although he's banged up, Williams says the injuries, most prominently his right wrist, are not what's holding him back. "It’s not my wrist, man, it’s my confidence," D-Will told Howard Beck. ""I just got to play better. Injuries or not, I got to play. I can’t keep having 10 points, not being aggressive. I just got to find a rhythm. It’s just tough."

That's not all he said. There was this, too: "I definitely need to play better for us to make that jump," Williams said. "We can be a great team. You’ve seen us — we won five straight, and I haven’t shot the ball well. And we’ve had some good wins." And this. "I feel like I’m letting my team down. I feel like I’m not doing enough to help us win."

But the schedule could help him and the Nets work through things. After five games in eight days, including three on the road, the Nets will play only three in the next eight, all at home.

Thats good to know...he still does not look 100%...I really believe the wrist is hurting him enough to affect shots and FTs here and there...during the Heat game he looked to be shaking off his elbow, so I think that still exists...

But the best part of this is he feels he needs to do more and he does...With this team, everyone healthy he should be avg. 20 and 10...I really do not see why it would be that difficult...another 3, think he is avg. 1.4/gm, which would put him at 18pts/gm...so you are really talking about two baskets here...he is playing as well as he can right now...most importantly, during the first 16 games, he truly has been concentrating on the team and the offense flowing as well as possible...trying to get everyone else in their comfort zone first...

Its obvious at the same time, he is not 100% comfortable himself...

Don't shut him down. But he is banged up, and his minutes could be brought down.

I'd be fine with giving Seajay Watson more minutes
