Re: Top 25 Players Pt.II - Who's #11?
We should really do a top 25 players ranking every 2 weeks since there's so much ebb and flow during the season. Then you just take the average of everyone at the conclusion of the season. Like if we have Melo at 3 for the first few weeks of the season, but then he pans out to a steady 8-10, he'll end up with a lower average at the end... Which is where he would really belong in the whole scheme of the season. Or you just keep up with the averages at the end of every month.

Not to complain or anything, I actually enjoy these threads very much (always fun to rank players) and it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but we really should move through these threads a lot faster, like every 2 days or so, because we started this in the first few weeks of the season, and we're still on #11...no way we get to #25 at this rate.

Re: Top 25 Players Pt.II - Who's #11?
Idea: Everyone picks their top 25 guys, sends it to me (or evo, or whomever) by X date via PM/e-mail, I give a point for every spot on the rank and determine the top 25 (so if LeBron is #1 on 2 lists, he gets 2 points; fewer the points the better).
It's just weird doing this at the start of the season, not factoring in for small samples, and finishing by season's end when so much can change. After all, the list is based on the present.

Re: Top 25 Players Pt.II - Who's #11?
Thanks for the comments guys.
I've actually been wanting some feedback to make this faster and more efficient.
@Macgyver - I don't think doing top 25 players every two weeks will bear much fruit. Not only will we get even lower number of voters, the top 5-10 don't change that often.
@rb3 - I want the threads to move faster as well. I know who the regulars are and waiting for all of the regulars to put in votes is what slows us down. I'm not blaming anyone, but Rich almost always votes, but he hasn't put in a vote yet. I'm sure everyone gets busy at certain times. I'll make a few suggestions at the end of this post.
@Ron - I hear you.
I have a few ideas to get this thing done faster and in a more efficient way going forward.
1) Instead of doing 25 players, I'd like to cut it down to 20. (We may not need to do this if we implement some of the ideas I've listed below.
2) I'd like to have you guys post your top 5 players in one thread, so that we don't have to vote for them. The top 5 doesn't really change that often and when it does, it's usually pretty clear cut.
3) An extension of point 2...after the top 5, I'd like us to vote 3 players at a time. So after the top 5, we go 6-8, 9-11, etc. This way we get those done faster as well. As Ron suggested, the official order will be determined by the players who are voted the highest ranking most often. If it ever comes down to a tie, will have a tiebreaker thread.
4) I'd like to place a time limit of 2 days/48hours per voting period. If you don't vote, too bad. That way instead of us taking months to finish it, it would literally take 12 days to finish if we do 20 players or 16 days to do 25 players. If we implement this and it's successful, we could run these once every 2-3 months and it would be a fun way to monitor the progress of players, especially those who are fringe allstars.
So...what do you guys think?

Re: Top 25 Players Pt.II - Who's #11?
We need to establish the way we're actually voting. If it's for the season Dwight wouldn't be in my top 10, but overall he'd be top 5 if we disregard the games he's played while not completely healthy.
Is it strictly for the season?
Is it for the season and beyond?
Is it past seasons and including this season but disregarding next season?

It's for this season only.

Re: Top 25 Players Pt.II - Who's #11?
I would honestly just suggest running these much shorter. This one is going on 7 days, it's unnecessary.
This is a small board and only so many people are going to vote foe the most part.

Ok, I think the I will at least put a time limit on it like I suggested on the previous page.

Yeah, I prefer the 2 day time limit, and if you don't vote too bad. All the regulars are here at least once every 2 days, so they should be able to see the thread and make a vote. It doesn't take too much time to just cast a vote.

What about the other suggestions I gave?
If we do top 25 with a 2 day limit, it'll still take almost 2 months.
