What disturbs me about PJ's comments at times is his "if we make the playoffs"...What if? I get anything can happen but if this team is literally on pace for 50 wins and can jump anywhere from 4th to 2nd. Why are you doubting making the playoffs this late? It should be "We ARE making the playoffs, We ARE going to compete for a championship and we ARE going to give 100% effort"...PJ sounds like a scared little dog half of the time.

Quite frankly, I have no idea if he even believes in his team. If he didn't want the job, then just say no. For a guy who wants to prove himself, he doesn't come off like he truly wants to succeed.

Mike Woodson was interim and worked his ass off to get them to play and win games at all costs. After he got an extension, he didn't get complacent. He took every single player to different cities to work out with them and got Hakeem to work out with Carmelo and Amare.

That sort of dedication doesn't seem apparent in PJ and that was a quality Avery had that I honestly loved and respected. He just was too stubborn and clueless to utilize players, rotations and system but he atleast showed a form of emotion, care and work ethic.

I knew we were screwed when he started his speech as interim head coach by saying "I will stand by Avery's system and beliefs"

Yup, I remember being shell-shocked when he called the Dallas Mavericks and extremely "scary matchup." Seriously? A team that has no chance of making the playoffs is a SCARY MATCHUP? A team under .500 who isn't playing well is a SCARY? The Thunder are scary. The Heat are scary. The discombobulated Mavs are not scary. That's a team we should destroy.

Needless to say, we lost. Not that we lost because PJ was scared but it's very telling that our head coach is afraid of mediocre teams.

Deron needs to start ignoring PJ when he deliberately attempts to slow down the pace by calling out god awful plays.

agreed, about Pierce/VC. If Deron and the team actually did ignore PJ and what he was drawing up, PJ would probably get pissed and jack Reggie Evans minutes up even higher LOL.

See the difference? This is the disconnect that is a problem

PJ:

"We’re still in my mind still too far behind them to be worrying about the division and standings and stuff like that. That trip is such a monster trip.
“To me, if we get back from Utah and we’re close in the standings, then I think you can start saying, ‘Hey guys, we got whatever we got left, six games left, and we can do this or we can get a tiebreaker or stuff like that.’ ’’

Brook:

“Because of injuries, they’re struggling so it is an opportunity for us, but we’re more focused on ourselves and trying to win more than what other teams are doing,” said Brook Lopez, who admitted a division title would be “huge” for the Nets.

It’s just important for us to win the division, not just finish ahead of the Knicks. As long as we finish ahead of all four [teams].”

Joe:
"I know definitely being a New Yorker, being here for what, six or seven months," he said. "I understand how the fans feel about the Nets and the Knicks. So I know how important it is." Joe Johnson added, adding that he checks the standings "quite often."
