Must win game against Philadelphia on Friday, and then a big measuring stick game against Indiana. I mean, I still think our talent can compete with anyone, but our effort on defense is so up and down. We need to play with the same effort that we brought against the Clippers on a more consistent basis.

i dont see indy as a measureing stick game. we matchup well and even earlier in the year when we played like dog crap we nearly beat them. we should be in or win that game, but even waxing them is no statement.

winnning 4 or 5 games in a row is the measuring stick imo. this team needs to show i can win and play consistently

what do u mean we should win against Indiana? Why should we win against the best team in the conference? What have we done this season for any of us to believe that we should win

its about matchups. they might be the best team in the conference but head to head i dont have much of a doubt we are better and can beat them 8 or 9 times out of 10. i was pretty suprised we didnt beat them last time, but i also hadnt realized how bad we were at that point.

we are just a bad matchup for them. just like they are a bad matchup for miami.

id be shocked if it wasnt at least 1 possesion game. i expect to win that one.

I agree that we shouldn't expect to win, but as far as what have we shown...we just blew out the Clippers a few games ago. The Clippers are a very good team, and we showed the potential we had. We're just super inconsistent in terms of our defense (our offense is always going to be good as long as D-Will plays imo), which is why we can shut down the Clippers, but then let Detroit and Washington eat us alive inside.

If we bring the effort, we can compete with the Pacers. If we play the same lackadaisical defense...then yeah, it'll be ugly.

Knowing this team, they'll beat Indy and Chicago but lose to Milwaukee before the hell trip.

There is way too much inconsistency from this team. The only ones that can't see it are the players. I realize its hard to beat every team on the schedule, but they should beat teams like the Wizards based on the veteran players the Nets put on the floor. Not to take anything from the Wizards, their young corps will make some noise for years to come.

There are so many areas the Nets need to improve. Like in the rebounding department. I did like how they fought back from a rather large deficit. They didn't quit. Their poor rebounding, turnovers, and shot selection down the stretch kept them from the win column. PP had a good night. Hopefully that continues going forward.

Voicing my rant as usual.

I'm putting this **** up(loss) on Lopez... I've been his supporter since day 1 and I would be fair to criticize when justify and last night is no exception...

His lack of IQ to get a rebound or stay near the rim cost this team and I have no idea why no coach in his NBA career has **** tried to set him right. I mean leaving it up to KG, Blatche or Evans alone on the defensive effort is selfish IMHO... its just **** selfish...

I or I'm sure the team, doesn't need Brook to be the first guy at the other end of floor, especially since we're a half court, slow tempo team... He plays so far from the rim all the time that it gets on my **** nerves...

Brook, grow a pair and stay near the rim... god sakes help your team out!

Paul was freaking magnificent. THIS is the future HOFER Truth from last year after the ASG. I fully expect much more of this kind of play.

It was a special night for Pierce - too bad the team couldn't pull out the W. But the fans appreciated his effort at least, so not all lost.
Garnett’s shot...boosted him to 25,000 points in his NBA career. More than that, by reaching...25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 5,000 assists, 1,500 steals and 1,500 blocks — Garnett joined an elite class of … ONE. Just him. That’s it - Steve Aschburner

How is the game against Indy a measuring stick? This team is dreadful

i thought that they turned the corner, but no. They are just as bad as they were while Deron and Brook were out. There is NO difference here.

i dont know how lopez at 25 yeard old can look pierce, 35 years old in the eyes after this game. pierce gave about 10 times the effort lopez did.

Even though I don't believe that any game that we've played yet has been a measurement of what we will be in the end, I don't know how you can discount the IND game but then use the game against WAS as an accurate measurement of who we are.

Each of the games are just 1 game.

Teams are measured on trends and how they play over several number of games.

Before the WAS game, we were 4-1 in the previous 5 games and we were obviously improving. Yeah, this game hurt but I'm not going to throw out the previous 5 games and act like they never happened.

If we lose tonight, then I will start to think that things are going south again because that's what the trend suggests.

The biggest problem with this team is that we lack consistency.

All of the true contending teams have players whose stats you can basically pencil in before the game. Then after they play the game, you'll see them meet those averages.

With D-Will, Lopez, and JJ, we simply never know what we're getting from game-to-game.

We beat the Bulls by 20 in Game 1 of our playoffs series and everyone believed we were just going to steamroll them.

Then we lose the next 3 straight games. We win game 5 because Lopez and D-will stepped up.
We barely win Game 6 and the first half of Game 7 was a nightmare (we were down 61-44 at halftime) until we finally stepped up albeit too late.

The best players on your team need to be consistent players.

I have to admit that while it was cool to see JJ go off two games ago, during the game I sat back and thought 'but will he even try to score 20-25 the next game?'

I'm sorry but we have no 'seek and destroy' players. They surely know how to complain but they don't know how to (and don't want to) fight.

Caught the 4th quarter of this game and was shocked at how slow D-Will looked. Just a shell of what he used to be off the dribble.

Is he still injured or is this the NEW D-Will?

He looked gassed. I think he played 2 full quarters.

His speed has been there since returning.
