My apologies to billy and thornton

Post#1 » by BK nets BK » Mon Mar 24, 2014 3:37 am

When we traded for Thornton I thought it was a stupid trade that made no sense. I bashed billy king and thornton (comparing him to Jason terry) and everything. Well I will be the first to say that I was totally wrong and he has made me eat my words and I am glad so. This guy is a big boost to our offense and has contributed a lot to our turn around.

Yeah I agree, at first I wasn't 100% if Thornton was the right move to trade for... but holy ****, at worst he's shooting like Terry & Reggie combined and at best is scorching fire on the court.

He obviously needs an uptick in his defensive abilities... but boy, is he a huge help off the bench for this team

he is EXACTLY what terry was supposed to be. and on top of that he has really done a surprisingly good job on the offensive glass

I knew it was a good trade, but it has turned out great.

Yeah, same here. I couldn't believe people were actually complaining about it.

Not only was/is Thornton a better player than Terry, at minimum Thornton's contract could serve as a very movable expiring contract next year if we need to pull off a big trade.

I don't see how anyone could have complained about this move at the time it was made. Jason Terry was a liability and useless, Reggie wasn't even in the rotation (for the right reasons). So we basically took a chance on a chucker who had the potential to thrive in a new/better situation, while giving away negative assets. Worst case scenario: Thornton sucks and he doesn't get much playing time anyway. But instead, he has been a big player for us off the bench, with his red hot scoring stretches time to time.

And like NyCeEvo said, he becomes a nice expiring next season if we want to do a big trade. I rarely give Billy King credit but he deserves it here, it was a nice trade to pull off.
