Really? Seems like a knee jerk reaction to a small sample size. Why not just sign him for the rest of the season and evaluate at the end of the year?
We now have Guiterrez, Teague occupying 2 roster spots next year, albeit same as this year, but I would've liked greater flexibility

Next year is non-guaranteed. This is a great move because you can now include Gutierrez in a trade in the offseason with the other team cutting him if they wish to do so.

I like the guy. He's not afraid to get his hands dirty and he hasn't been awful from what I've seen, he's clearly better than that piece of **** Teague. Win/Win IMO.

I actually do like him as a pretty solid 2nd/3rd string PG. I think it was VC4P that called him a poor man's Jose Calderon. Calderon is a really solid NBA PG, a worse version of him is still capable of running a 2nd unit.

He plays scrappy defense and he's got a nice jumper from what I've seen, and he keeps the ball moving, always making the right pass. And he's not afraid to take the shot, as we saw against Charlotte (even though we lost, Gutierrez made a couple of key jumpers to keep it close).

Maybe it's the small sample size talking, but I actually don't understand why he couldn't secure more than a 10-day contract from someone. From what I've seen in the few games he's played, he provides everything that a backup PG should. He doesn't kill you out there, and he actually does some things well. The guy is under control, and isn't a chucker, like so many 10-day contracts usually are. He's like the anti-Sundiata Gaines. And he actually gives good effort on defense, if a little overzealous, and has been useful for us against quicker guards.

He brings more to the table than a lot of backup guards around the league. For example, I'd take him over Austin Rivers, easily.

He reminds me of Patrick Beverley on defense. Perhaps other teams never gave him a look because he's not much of a scorer and these days scoring point guards are in vogue. On the other hand, he fits the Kidd system perfectly.

The D-League and Europe is filled with NBA caliber guys. We didn't call up Gerald Green until after the all star break 2 years ago. When it comes to who gets the last roster spot or who gets a 10-day contract, it's all luck. Depends on the connections a player has (Jorge went through our training camp so the staff was familiar with him or the infamous Chris Smith  ), the roster situation a team is in, and the "risk" that player brings. There are hundreds of players that are better than Teague that aren't in the NBA. It's just with the percentage of guaranteed contracts out there - there isn't room for everyone that's good enough.

He's not really a freak athlete or a huge scorer or a guy that can get to the rim/FT line - so it's not surprising teams didn't give him a chance. Those are what teams look for in PGs for the most part.

Excellent move by Billy King to retain this guy.

I haven't watched this kid play a lot but the more minutes he receives, the better and more confident he plays.

When he did that spin away from the defender and no look pass to Plumlee, I did a double-take because I thought that was D-Will. If he continues at the level he's playing right now, he'll be a great 2nd/3rd string PG.

Yep, based on how he's playing, I don't think it would be such a big deal to extend Livingston as a full-time starter, and just give Jorge all of the backup minutes. There's only 10 games left, let's see what the guy can do in extended minutes and increased responsibility.

One thing's for sure...I'd much rather have him out there than Alan Anderson. This was a game where Anderson caught fire, and I still feel like he played like crap. Bad shots, poor decision-making, and terrible defense. I don't care that he plays solid defense sometimes, he commits way too many stupid fouls, at the worst possible times, and that's just a killer. Anderson will play super aggressive defense where he just mauls a player, while we're in the penalty, and he'll end up getting called for the foul...then look dumbfounded at the official when the replay clearly shows he hacked the guy. Can't stand low IQ, irrational confidence players like him.

3 assists, 4 steals In 8 minutes.

His on ball defense and ablity to find the open man is so refreshing. Glad we locked him up. Kidd looks like he knows what he's doing when it comes to scouting PG talent.
