A someone who wen to games, I think this season the early tip off killed the crowds. The building wasn't full till early in the 2ndQ. Thus it took awhile for the energy in the building to pick up. Once that happened though, the crowd energy was fine IMO. (Especially Game 3 v Toronto onwards)

We'll NEVER be as loud as OKC or Portland or Golden State. Our crowds will be more comparable to Laker crowds etc in terms of atmosphere.

And yeah, there are A LOT of hipster fans in the arena. I'm taking about people who sit 95% of the time during the game and barely shout for the team. I'm talking upper levels here. Of course not everyone is going to lose their minds but I noticed several people who barely moved out their seats. I found it funny that some are fully decked out in BK gear, spending tons of money at the concessions stands but bring barely any energy. I remember one couple who were more interested in taking selfies than shouting for a 3pt basket.

game 4 at home in the playoffs against toronto was one of the worst crowds ive been to since the team moved to brooklyn. it eventually filled up, but it was like WNBA quality as far as being loud, cheering, and into the game. the toronto regular season game i went to was louder then game 4.

i agree with you the fans by and large seem more to treat it like a social event then as fans rooting for the team. but its hard to really blame them when most of them likely arent basketball fans and this team really doesnt give the fans alot of reasons to cheer.

new fans and casual fans want to root for guys who show emotion and play hard. its why the only time this crowd got behind a player that player was reggie evans. when you have a team of dogs who dont play hard and dont step up, casual fans can never get behind that... and hell, it even turns off alot of hardcore fans

its why i thought it was so pivotal we bring in leadership and emotional guys this offseason like boozer, pierce, KG. Pierce was great, unfortunetly not even he could infect this team with a ton of passion consistently.

i went to a game this year while i was there and i was also very suprised by the lack of enthusiasm. Other than the infectious (JK) broooklyn chant there wasnt much life
