Smart people think we're absolutely screwed now and in the future. People think we're barely (if even) making the playoffs and have absolutely no future. They think Plumlee making the US team was a joke. They think Deron/Lopez are completely done. I think they're going to be WAY off. But I hope we're not just overly confident. Maybe they know something we don't?
i think its more they dont view things with the bias fans naturally do.
we see deron's surgerys as maybe he will be healthy. they see it as a guy just came off surgery. we see our old guys and think they cant be as injured as last year. they see it as we are still an old team. things like that.
either way, i dont see any reason to have lofty expectations for this team. 42-48 wins and the second round, similar to last year i think is realistic. i cant really get on the media for thinking it going to be closer to 42 wins, and that we will be in a fight with a few other teams for one of those last couple seeds.
as far as future... its hard for the media to really look at 2016, say we are gonna have a ton of cap, and that we will use that cap wisely for a team with a GM who wasnt able to do that the last time around. also, there is alot of time between now and then to chew up that cap. if mirza is extended and we use the mMLE/MLE next season and extend lopez that would really eat into it. i dont think the media sees us getting durant, dwight, conley, etc. they see an old team with just 1 or 2 decent young players and limited picks
