Meanwhile, Chicago has the same concerns with Rose is injury prone, Gasol is injury prone, Noah is coming off arthroscopic surgery, Jimmy Butler has a new injury, etc.
Then, the beloved Wizards have already lost Beal, Webster and Humphries to injuries and Nene, Gooden, Gortat and Pierce aren't usually healthy for a full season but that still doesn't stop people from auautomatically proclaiming them as a Top 4 team off the bat.
Its all bias though and perception. At this point in time, the Nets are the team that "traded a bunch of picks for Paul Pierce and then lost him for nothing". That's what the perception is, even though anyone can look at this roster and see that we've got a decent set of players.
It's interesting to me because even smart analysts are saying that stuff. I'd expect it from Charles Barkley or someone but not from Zach Lowe, not from The Starters, etc. I would expect a more leveled take from people that actually watch every team play. I also hate being that guy that says "Every writer hates our team" but I'm really starting to believe it now.
Very much hoping that this group proves everyone wrong. So many teams with high, high expectations that have done nothing. Washington, Charlotte, Atlanta. I have a feeling everyone is going to be let down quite a bit.
i dont think any writers hate our team. i think that (especially for anyone non-local) they look at this team, see a team led by williams and lopez and think that team really cant go anywhere. its lazy, sure, but alot of national people are gonna be lazy when ranking all 30 teams
