He already criticized Brook a lot after the Twolves game, and he criticized him again a lot last night after the game. It's okay to criticize your player's performance in the media, every once in a while, but if you keep doing it, there's a real risk of alienating and angering the player.
If you look at some all time great coaches, they were masters at team management and managing egos. While not a basketball example, Sir Alex Ferguson for Manchester United used to protect his players in the media a lot, even though he would go off on them in the locker room.
Lopez has been coddled in varying degrees for 6 years now by 5 coaches... and he hasnt responded positive to any of it. He needs tough love. I love Hollins approach, and if a player cant handle being called out then that isnt the type of player I'd want to go to war with anyway. I want mentally tough guys that can take being called out and have it motivate them.
I dont give a crap if the players get mad Hollins calls them out when they play poor or with poor effort... im mad when i have to watch that crap. these guys are making max money, and hollins doesnt need to cater to their acts. they have long skated with mediocure effort
Exactly. We've sat here season after season watching piss poor efforts and lazy play, now someone is finally in charge that doesn't want to see that garbage on his watch.
Guys are responding. Lopez is playing soft. I hope he gets mad and plays aggressively because then he'll be a factor. He needs to rebound, and he needs to be tough on the inside. Enough is enough
