I agree with MDB that SVG wouldn't be able to get much more, if anything, out of this group. We don't have shooters or solid ball distributors which are imperatives for any good, modern NBA system.
Sure, Hollins had a lot of say in the offseason moves but with our lack of assets, it's not like he had a plethora of players to choose from. The Nets scraped the bottom of the barrel and went with the players who they believe are the best of the rest. Even if they do end up being better than they were in the past, it doesn't overcome the fact that they were at the bottom of the barrel for a reason.
Regardless of how anyone feels about Hollins, I don't see how ownership could justify firing him after this season with the quality of players on the team. Unless some great coach becomes available this year or a new GM wants to clean house, I'd expect Hollins to be here in 2016-17.
phil jackson, norman dale, jesus christ, no coach would be doing better with this roster. we have no talent. period. and even our best player is just a borderline all-star, not some top 8 elite beast capable of dragging scrubs like lebron.
MDB said it, we have a team of D and F tier players making up like 13 of the 15 roster spots.
only a mid season trade has us topping 30-33 wins. without a trade we may not hit 30.
to get 30+ wins as currently constructed lopez needs to complete beast out. not that he is playing bad now, but he needs to step his game up to top 15 player level who brings 23/9 a night
