thats like saying lawrence frank as forced to play brook lopez
having said that this season is lost and its unconscionable that guys like bogs rhj (before the injury) robinson and larkin arent getting more minutes and allowed to fail
this isnt a playoff team this is a borderline 30 win team
Management told Hollins to play RHJ more minutes. That is not a fallacy.
When Hollins was asked by reporters what made him believe RHJ should start, he just said that it was his decision.
RHJ found out that he was starting when he looked at the lineup for the game. Hollins didn't even have the respect to tell him face-to-face and he completely downplayed its significance to the media.
His communication skills are horrible. I don't comprehend how you can't look your players in the eye and speak to them.

Hate to break it to you, but nobody wants any of those players.

Re: PG: Lionel Ruins Christmas
No Deron Williams in this game... I was really curious to see what kind of reception he'd get. He wasn't even on the bench - maybe he was afraid of being shown on the big screen.
So I read the thread back, interested in finding out explanations as to why Bogdanovic has a great game shooting the ball and only gets 26 minutes(and is +16)... and I am amused by Hollins. Really puzzling. Even Ian Eagle was pointing that out, I thought he was hurt or something. On that note, what is keeping Willie Reed from getting some more minutes? I swear every time i see that guy in his limited minutes, he is doing good things.
Other than that. Just the usual. Lopez is an infuriating player if he isn't hitting his 'soft' shots, not to mention when he isn't hitting his long range ones. I wonder if he doesn't realise he has a size advantage and is only playing to the other teams hands by not seeking contact, backing people down, generating double teams. It was good to see Young bounce back, Bargnani keep up his solid run of form and Larkin looking like the injury didn't affect him. They need to come out ready to play against the Wizards because that team is playing fast these days with ultra small lineups.

I think he's just grumpy and stuck in his old "I didn't get individual credit when I was playing so you're not getting anything from me" attitude.
Even if that was true for him, he has to adapt and he's showing a refusal to move an inch unless he's forced to do so.
Today's most successful coaches are those who adapt the quickest. I marvel at Pop because even though he hates 3 pointers and calls them a gimmick, he utilizes them because he knows that is the way teams win in the modern NBA. He puts winning ahead of personal preference. Hollins doesn't.

Re: PG: Lionel Ruins Christmas
Hollins really isn't the problem. Were a 30 win team, plain and simple. We have no starting caliber players outside of Lopez and Thad. Our bench is terrible.
I don't know why anyone was expecting anything different. Firing Hollins will change nothing. We will still suck. I'd rather keep Hollins for a while or at least until his contract runs out. This team is doomed until Free Agency 2016 anyway. And even then probably for the remainder of the decade.

Hollins isn't the problem but he definitely is a problem which makes him completely expendable along with the majority of the roster. His overall behavior and development with young talent is embarrassing.

We don't really have any young talent outside of RHJ who he was giving time too and Mccullough when he comes back. I don't view Hollins as a problem.
I do view him as expandable.

He was told to give minutes to RHJ and he didn't even tell him he was moving into the starting lineup. That's a big problem. Management should never force a coach to utilize a rookie in a bridge year. It only looks worse now that RHJ has turned out to be one of the better defenders in the league already. I suspect management will force him to use McCullough this season as well. Willie Reed, another young player that still doesn't get consistent minutes despite showing signs of being a good backup center that rebounds and plays defense.
Bogdanovic has been struggling with his confidence all season and during his best shooting performance of the season, Hollins pulls his him mid way through the third quarter while Joe Johnson embarrasses himself shooting air balls costing us a win against Dallas. He doesn't even give an explanation for his decision.
Last week, he blamed the late game mishap on the players but then eventually admitted he got caught "looking at something else" and forgot to tell them to foul. That's not good coaching. That's actually cancerous coaching that can create turmoil regardless of the talent on the floor. Most of these guys play their ass off every night and bad coaching, communication, bad professionalism should never come from the head coach.

Shane Larkin is over 6 months young then Delon Wright and a week younger then Jerian Grant. Those were the 2 PGs just about everyone wanted to draft.
I am the biggest Jack supporter by far on the internet but Larkin has outplayed him this year. That's not because Jack is playing poorly, it's because Larkin has been outstanding.
19.1 min
7.2 Pts/g (13.6/36)
3.6 Ast/g (6.8/36)
1.4 Stl/g (2.6/36)
55.5% TS
48% FG
48.6% 3pt
73.9% FT
It will be interesting to see what he does in the off season. Ideally he would pick up his player option and wait until the following year to hit free agency. The Nets would have his early bird rights after next season and could go over the cap to keep him if they spend big in the next 2 free agencies. That is a big gamble though for Larkin who could get a decent contract this offseason. I am hoping that since he comes from money (his father is MLB great Barry Larkin) that he will chose to stay where he has been successful. As good as Larkin has played, he still doesnt fit in every system. It would be a case of "the grass is greener" if he left and could ruin his career.

Pretty sure we're going to get mollywhopped by the Wizards. I'm not watching.
Willie Reed has some nice footwork but the head coach is just a lost cause. Can't even bother hoping the right guys get minutes. He'll just run Joe Johnson until he breaks down completely.
