yeah so if Heat shed Deng's contract (which expires this year) and whiteside and probably will have to add another to make salaries match... maybe they take back Lopez for the long term security.

Thad Young and Wayne Ellington to Toronto for Patrick Patterson, Terrence Ross, and a first rounder(lottery protected).

You get a young player in Ross who has shown some upside, but the big key is the first rounder that would be decent if Toronto fails to get out the first round again. Ellington helps replace some shooting they lose in that deal. Finally Patterson is a decent big who only has another year after this so you could be FA players again quicker than waiting forever on Thad to expire. Toronto finally upgrades their pf position and he fits well with their other pieces.

Brook Lopez to Lakers for Julius Randle, Roy Hibbert, and Tarik Black.

Helps replace some of the front court you lost in trading Lopez and Young. Big piece here is Julius Randle who would give you a young guy to build around. Black is a decent young center prospect and Hibbert is an expiring to help try to snag another good player in FA with Lopez huge contract off the books.

Bogjan Bogdanovic and Thomas Robinson to Charlotte for PJ Hairston, Brian Roberts, and second rounder.

Bogdanovic isnt working out apparently and you guys need help at the PG position in the short term and Brian Roberts is a decent player. You get PJ Hairston who has shot the 3 decent and is an able body defender. Charlotte is looking for a slightly better playmaking wing than Hairston who can shot a bit. Robinson helps with our lack of depth without Jefferson. You get a decent second rounder and both expiring if you want to spend that money else where.

Nobody has the ability to absorb Johnson so its probably best to just bet to buy him out.

New Roster is:

Larkin- Roberts- Sloan- Jack (ir)
Ross- Markel Brown- karasev
Hollis Jefferson-Hairston
Randle- Patterson- Reed
Hibbert- Black- Bargnani

Plus you get Toronto first rounder, Charlotte 2nd and a ton of cap space heading into this year to sign a Derozan type player and upgrade PG.

Young core next year is Terrence Ross, Hollis-Jefferson, Julius Randle, and Toronto first.

Do you guys think Lakers would do that deal? They could have a core of DeAngelo, Clarkson, Brandon Ingram, Larry Nance, and Brook Lopez....

You would have Julius Randle to build around and then try to flip Thad Young for a first to Toronto or maybe Detroit.

What about Lopez Bargs Trob to Mil for Monroe and Parker? Kidd loves Lopez and tried that slick trade b4. Monroe isnt producing ANY WINS or defending the rim for them.

Then trade Joe for any sg or pg available. Rose, Bledsoe, conley whoever wants a salary off the cap.

A good target would be Evan Fournier (likely over the summer). It's hard to see the Magic keeping him. The Nets could work out a deal early in free agency so they safe face, get something back potentially, and Fournier likes it because he gets his situation resolved early (and is well paid).

we should wait and see who the coach and general manager is before seeing who they would want.

If Gasol didn't have that PO for next year I'd say offer Lopez for Noah, Gasol, and 2016 1st.

I wouldn't mind doing that anyway, since we're probably not getting max deals anyway, and that nets us a first round pick. I still doubt the Bulls are dealing anyone given that they're still in the thick of the East race.

Gasol might opt out anyway, so I'd say win win...we get back into the 1st rd of the draft to add another young kid, and we dump salary and then we really start off with a nice clean slate. Lopez gets to go to a playoff team and if you're the Bulls you probably don't hesitate to line him up next to Bobby Portis who I think is going to be a STUD talent once he gets some consistent time under his belt.

Sounds like no one is promised anything.

With that said, if the Nets can improve their rate of winning within the next few weeks, they'd probably prefer to keep things the same until the end of the season.

If they don't, all bets are off.

Brook met the conditions for that category.

EDIT: I didnt realize there were 2 Colangelo's in the NBA- Jerry Colangelo, the new 76ers GM, and his son Bryan Colangelo, the analytics focused guy rumored to be in the running for Nets GM. Its far more plausible that Thad + Noel stay put, and the coaches implement their systems with the players already on their roster. If Thibs is in the running for the Nets coaching job I could only assume he would attempt to mold BKN into a defensive powerhouse with an RHJ, Thad, Lopez frontcourt. To what level this would be successful remains to be seen, but I doubt either Thad or Lopez are good enough defensively to make it happen. The team still needs a consistent option at PG, a go-to scorer to prevent defenses from double-teaming Lopez, and a 3pt marksman.

to me that team loses 55 games and doesnt have 1 guy i see being a likely future all-star.

i dont see how you mold a front court with 2 poor defenders into a defensive powerhouse.

i think he would be looking to move brook or thad for an elite front court defender.

either way, i dont want thibs, but if he does end up coach, i hope its only coach and he wont make roster decisions
