Trade Idea: Joe Johnson to Celtics

Post#1 » by jasonceltics » Wed Feb 17, 2016 10:06 pm

How would you all feel about acquiring David Lee and Jonas Jerebko for Joe Johnson?

You guys would get your front line shored up having Lee play next to Lopez and a young prospect in Jerebko who has a 5 mil team option for next year. So you have option to bring him back. If you don't want him, next season is fully un guarenteed. But with the cap rising significantly in the offseason, he will be very cheap and reasonable contract for your core. Lee is expiring so you don't have to bring him back. And you save money this season.

Your starting line up for this year would be: Larkin, Bog, Young, Lee and Lopez.

Celtics get the ball handler and reliable vet that they need in the playoffs to make big plays in Johnson.

So what do you all think?

Idk, that feels like a move you make just to make a move. Lee would play the same type of minutes he does on the Celtics, and I don't know how Jerebko fits into the roster plans for next year. Plus, I think you're over valuing what JJ can bring to a team. He hasn't been too reliable and even that game winner he had against Denver was just a lucky shot.

Thad plays PF already and he's been top 10 in production playing there. Also we just got back Chris McCullough who plays PF, and Thomas Robinson has been getting more burn lately. They're really working on developing the latter 2 younger guys. Don't see any need for Jerebko or Lee at this point.

Johnson hasn't been great at all this year either, so just be aware of that too. Big drop off in production from what he's been doing his first 3 seasons in Brooklyn.

You must have not seen Johnson play this year

and Thad Young is better than Lee

I would entertain it. I think it's a decent swap.

Might be worth it to see if Jerebko could be a keeper.
